Post by buhrly1 on Jan 2nd, 2015 at 4:52pm
Hi,
I am looking for what should be looked at/tested for in a blood test. I moved and don't have what had been tested for in the past :-/ Tried search but...

So far I got:
25OH for D3 levels
Testosterone
CA
CA++

Thanks!

Buhrly,

Good question...  You need to ask for the following serum lab tests:

25-Hydroxy Vitamin D a.k.a. 25(OH)D
Parathyroid Hormone PTH
Calcium
Vitamin B12.

The most important test is your 25(OH)D. This is the serum level metabolite of vitamin D3 that's used as a bio-marker for vitamin D3 status.  The normal reference range for 25(OH)D is 30 to 100 ng/mL.  It's a safe bet you're deficient unless you've been taking supplemental vitamin D3 > 2000 IU/day.

Knowing your 25(OH)D serum concentration can help determine the optimum vitamin D3 loading dose strategy.

If you're getting whacked by heavy CH hits and it's going to take more than a week to get the lab tests, start the anti-inflammatory regimen then get the lab tests. We can work the 25(OH)D response curves in reverse to estimate your starting concentration.  The important lab test is 30 days after starting the anti-infammatory regimen to make sure you've elevated your 25(OH)D up to 80 ng/mL.

Take care and please check out the following link.  It has all the supplements, doses, lab tests, drug interactions and contraindications you and your doctor will need.

V/R, Batch

Thanks for the reply. You rock!

This is more of a follow up. I have been on the supplement regime with success :-)

About 10,000 of the D3 a day, fish oil and the other goods

Just wanted to see the levels after being on the supplements for a few years.
