Anyone know of any correlation between ch and the dys's (dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia) ?

Just asking

One of the best ways to answer questions like this is using:
  • PubMed - START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE
  • Google Scholar - START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

Both search through published scientific journals and similar sources.

If there is a positive link between the two then I'd expect to see multiple search results with relevant content, e.g. searching on "cluster headache" verapamil, but if you only see a few then it is likely there is minimal connection.

For example for  "cluster headache" dyscalculia, PubMed finds no results and Google Scholar finds 17 hits, although from a quick look at the results there seems to be nothing linking the two.

Based on this I'd conclude that there is no known researched linkage between the two.

There will no doubt be people with CH and the dys's (dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia), just as there will people people with CH and a red car, it need not mean that they are connected.

Thanks Mike

I was curious from a , run in the family kinda way as dys's can run in families the same as ch and migraine can. And the fact that my dad suffered migraine and was dyslexic and I have ch and am dyspraxic got me thinking " wonder if there is a known link".

I've asked a similar question on a dys support group and have had a lot of responses saying "oo yes I get that" and " I often get cluster headaches" most of which can be put down to tension and stress.

But I have also had several responses from people who are diagnosed with migraine or ch but no where near enough to even hint at a link .

I did however point the people with ch in this direction because most of them didn't know any one who knew any thing about them.

so if nothing else my curiosity has helped some one , so it's all good  ;D

Another possibility: There is a long, diverse number of disorders which mimic Cluster but which are not headache disorders. The list grows at such a rate that I stopped adding to the list but I first started this list because of the how easily it is to be mislead in making a diagnosis of Cluster.
