Thank you Sooooo much Barbara for that! I've in Central TX for half my life and I busted out laughing when I saw that! I'm currently in MS now aka humid heat....miss MY Texas! Prefer dry heat over humid heat any day!

Oh, how I envy your weather! It's mid-winter here in 'tropical' north Queensland with daytime temperatures struggling to get past 75f.

We all rug up to go to the pub but nights are plummeting to a nightmarish 60 and even a recent 56! Nearly killed us with smell of moth balls as people pulled out Antarctic weather gear that hasn't seen light of day for years.

Whatever happened to that global warming thing? Cancelled through lack of interest?

I reckon gloves should come with built-in bottle openers.

Colin, she must surely meet up with me and DennyM for a cooling libation, if only so we can tell her the truth about you.

Well all I can say, it's bloody freezing here in Perth
only 19c 64F and I'm all rugged up like an Eskimo.
Heading up to Broome in a couple of weeks time
for a winter break, and to thaw out, daily temps

" a cooling libation"   luv it !
truth be told this is more of a vacation for her, from me !
I think she's pretty well worked out my measure   ;D
Actually, a correction, her parents sold their property up in karanda and have now moved close into cairns near the city proper, a semi retirement type village, makes it a bit hard for both of us to visit at the same time due to the size of the place. I think she has plans to do an "oil painting course" with her mother for a few days and relax.
The fridge has been stacked,  instructions on using all the appliances have been documented,  ( as if I'll be cooking)
just have to ensure the house is as she left it upon return !
That's not an issue, young girl over the road is saving for her first car, she does an amazing cleaning job for $50    ;D
....And Dr Hoppy !  come on princess, toughen up !
It got down to 4 c here last nite   ;)
but enjoy your Broome trip, sounds very enticing .

You soft aussie lot don't know what it's like to be cold !!!!  ;D ;D ;D

75f is a nice summer day - not too hot and draining but warm enough for a swim in the sea, a picnick or a bit of sun bathing. It plummets to minus 5 or below in winter. THAT'S COLD.

Hey Brian, maybe we should switch places for the ready of the season.....you can have my 95-100f and I'll take your struggling to get past 75... ;D

I told my husband I wanted to move where it was between 70-85 degrees all year round.....he told me, "good luck with that"

It has been a cold winter here in Auckland, it got down to -1C (30F) overnight a week ago (coldest in 10+ years) with it being about 15-20C (60-70F) during the day most of the rest of the time. It really has been a winter to get out the cold weather gear.

Colin - I'd suggest you get your wife to take up Brian's offer too.

Wow, that is cold Mike, I spent a good 10 years in Auckland, lived on the hibiscus coast and worked in browns bay, I never experienced it that cold. A cousin of mine in Hamilton emailed me the other day, quoting -4 c, it seems N Z is going thru a cold snap. My niece sent a photo from Nelson the other day, snow capped mountains and a beautiful sunset, but I think their overall temp is pretty moderate.   I'm just hoping for a moderate summer !! Its the heat that gets me, It feels like my core temperature is higher since I got diagnosed with clusters, my intolerance to heat has definitely increased........
I'm FREE NOW, I mean my wife flew out to Cairns to see her parents this morning, and I did feel a bit of guilt for not joining her,  but next Trip I will go as well and I will make a point of meeting up AussieBrian .  who knows, maybe this intolerance towards the bubbly frothy liquid may have dissipated by then      now that sounds very dangerous     ;)

regards all

Please.

Bring on Fall sweater weather. Western New Yorkers aren't built for body temperature weather as are Texans.

Last February the average temperature here was 11 degrees or something like -12 C. aahh  8-)

That is an aberration though.

Hey Barbara - I'm from Waco. So just out of curiosity, is this summer as hot as the one in 2011?  And now that I think about it, I did have more headaches that year....

It was hot back in '11 alright. Not sure about the records tho.. Just know me well enough to stay in the a/c where it's cool. Feel a little sorry for my doggies.. Think they're trying to tell me that they're hot..

Back in July of 95 and July of 98 were the 2 times I have passed out due to getting too hot. Since then I have learned to stay indoors, in AC, and tell people I'm allergic to high temperatures. LOL!

Yep. It's the only place that I know of in the 48 states, that benefits from LESS insulation in both homes and office buildings.

But, you need to speak Spanish..........

Here in Bastrop, TX, 2008 was worse than 2011. We had 86 days in a row of 100 F to 108 F every single day. We finally had a break in the heat with 12 days in a row at 98 F to 99 F.

Nights are a balmy 78-83 deg when days are hot. Luckily, electricity is super cheap here so keeping the house at 73-74 deg doesn't cost much at all.

Well, that was unfortunate. The pic was suppose to be a screenshot of my phone.  It said temperature was 97 with a humidity of 84% dew point of 71% and a heat index of 148.

That was a total fail. Lol.

Ok, now I'm really confused.  When Potter responded it showed regions, like Great Britian, Ireland..etc.  I did a test post with the same pic and it loaded the correct one.  Now coming back to this board to try the picture again, now all of a sudden (at least on my iPhone) the pics on the board ARE the correct ones.

That being said, I hope it makes sense now Potter. Cause I agree what was originally up there made no sense to me.

Mad River's Explorer is a good white water boat... looks like some decent current in a couple of the pics. You have some good white water down there?  With temps that high I'd want to be a fish and spend the whole day in the water. :) 8-)
