Stalked
Staring at an empty page, Pen in hand, mind all black. The beast is prowling, hear it growling, Circling ready for next attack. Too scared to sleep, too weak to weep, Cowering in fear of what’s ahead, I know it can’t kill me, but still it can fill me With terror unquenchable, bottomless dread. No second chances, the monster advances, The stalking is over, it’s time for the fight. No ducking or weaving, just bucking and heaving, The claws have sunk in and now comes the bite. The lashing, the crashing, the gnashing of teeth As my skull slowly crumples, bone torn apart. Talons of fire take my eye entire, It’s merciless, endless, cut blind to the heart. How long has it been, a minute? A year? Where am I? Is it over, or just a reprieve? I know that it’s out there just watching, and waiting, And gloating, and hoping I really believe That it’s gone forever, in future it’ll never Come back to attack, where-ever and when. I’m beaten, defeated, the beast has feasted Again, and again, and again and again. (From the archives of ch.com) |

Loved your poem Aussie. :) Langa |

Both are good descriptions. The first sounds just like a K9 to me with then a K10 just taking it to a whole new level, beyond where even I think is possible.
Brian, that poem is so true and brings back memories from when I was having CHs every night at the same time to the minute. |

Inspired me to Haiku:
Shadows are omens. Then there is Hell in my head. Pacing and panting. |

Exquisite pain. That's how my old friend Hub described it - exquisite.

Yes...a most remarkable description. I was struck especially by: A Cluster completely violates your being....
Maybe why so many describe the entirety of CH as...the beast...personal and animate... The perfect description...in my mind, like HUB.... of an 8+ for me... has always been "exquisite pain". Seems an odd description for 'evil" pain..but consider: def. 3 marked by flawless craftsmanship or by beautiful, ingenious, delicate, or elaborate execution |

I've sometimes described it as "pure pain". |

Best description I ever saw came not from a CHead, but from the world's greatest Supporter. In writing to another Supporter brand new to this nightmare she said, "They go to a place we can't access, nor ever hope to understand."

Brian, she got it spot on.
Overall, excellent posts all around. Exquisite pain, indeed. Jerry |

Thanks all for the replies. It is so hard to describe this pain to anyone and still even this description being true there will be many that still just don't get it. It certainly does say what we all want to say and is of help. Trying to put into words the feeling of a 10 CH attack is just not possible or at least very difficult unless that person knows similar pain, I also agree this description is maybe a bit exaggerated but who is to say that coming from a 40+ year CHer... It is how it feels to Hennie... Thanks Aussie Brian , Mike and everyone for your comments. Great one also Brian!...Much respect...
