Title: Where the devil....
Post by BarbaraD on Aug 23rd, 2015 at 11:21am
is everyone?  I see some of you on FB, but you're not coming over here that much lately. What's the deal?  There are people out there that need HELP...

On FB, they're still at square one. Some of us OLD timers here are trying to get them over here (and to CB.com) for HELP, but if there's no one over here to help them..

When I read some of the posts on FB, I feel like I'm back in 1998 or 1999... it's the same thing we were talking about back then and the answers are about the same..

Then apparently there's some so-called "support" group that's running down this site (huh?). From what I'm reading - the guy that started that one was here for a while - got help and now is saying we're a bunch of "witch doctors".

Some of these folks are just now discovering O2, but don't have a clue how to use it and aren't getting the "right" info - just things like, "Oh I tried that and it didn't work."

Folks... I know a lot of you are pain free now (hell, I am too) but that's no reason to ignore this site that's helped so many of us - time to give back ..

Rant over... But I really mean it..  :-*

Barb, I don't know anything about the Facebook page that you mentioned - but the culture here has changed. Once you squelch people too much, many people will simply move on.

Think about what kept this place rocking along, and how the members truly interacted in a very personal way. We actually knew and trusted each other, and got together in person.

I'm still here. I haven't seen many here to help so I only visit once a month or so.

I don't post anymore because either no one reads my posts or every one has me blocked. Either way I don't waste my time by typing when no one will read it.

Marc ... maybe we got back to the "old ways" and got back on track.. I'm not hurting right now, but I come here daily to see if I can help someone else..

I remember how bad it was to be alone with this thing -- and how wonderful it was when I found this place and someone who actually KNEW what it was like to go thru what I was going thru...

But it seems to a lot of people that if you're not hurting WHY do you need to come here... TO GIVE BACK SOME OF THE SUPPORT YOU GOT WHEN YOU WERE!!

And I can't believe no one has started a political fight lately... that used to be so much FUN!

I'm just wondering where all the KICKERS went off to... I miss them..

I personally think we've all gotten too darn PC for our own good..

Someone want to start something?  I'm game... :-*

ten year ago when I first saw this message board I read what the new visitors tab on the side bar said and I followed its instructions and I did what it says  to do. I read as much of the archives and past posts as possible . I was desperate and had nothing to lose, I was in a dark place because I had lost everything due to CCH. the knowledge I gained from this website saved my life. I never posted , I didn't need to so many of the posts I read reflected my own personal experience . just reading the posts and  the way that the members would interact and their sense of humor gave me a sense of comfort that was sorely needed . its too bad that those days are gone here. but the knowledge and the archives are not, so people can still come here as guests and get their life back. there are moderators on here now that don't even get a chance to moderate before there is a mad rush to persecute an old timer for a one word post . just re-read the new visitors tab and take it to heart . It would be safe to assume that not everyone that comes here has the health insurance or even a job due to their CH  , they might have no home and no car or help to get to a headache specialist. sleeping on a relative's couch with nowhere left to turn. thank you DJ for this wonderful website you may never know how many people you have actually saved.

Barb,
Some people leave, and some people are Democrats.  Ya just can't beat sense into everyone!

Howdy, Paul. That is part of the lack of interaction that I was speaking of.

But Liberalism is what looks smart, to people with no sense.

Yeah, Dauber... I remember the night "Dance with the Devil" appeared on here.. We all know that dark place.

And Marc, I do go back to the archives and I still laugh my rear off at some of the things we said (and wrote) back then. We were hurting so darn bad and could still make jokes and insult each other back into a good mood.

Some of us (mostly Dim-0-crats I guess) have been outspoken, but we've always had fun (at least I have) arguing about our different points of view. Even the trolls were fun.

And yes, we've run off some people but we've helped so many and what DJ has done here .. well there's just no words for it.

Guess I must be getting old cause not too long ago I actually AGREED with Bob P and that's way out of character for me.

But I guess it's true what they say... Progress was good - it just went on too long...  :-*

From a newbie's perspective, I have noticed a certain amount of crankiness from a few of the old-timers here.

But I have to say that this site has been a lifesaver for me.  I was headed for a very dark place as I began to realize that I would have to deal with these terrible headaches for the rest of my life.

But the information and advice I have found and received here has greatly improved the quality of my life, and I am back to being my old optimistic, productive self.

I hope you old-timers can find way to make it more fun again.  I'd hate to lose your hard earned wisdom.

I look in most days, if nothing else to see if everyone else is OK, and I do try to "give back" when I can.

If my CH was cured tomorrow and I never had another hit in my life, I would still look in most days, and for ever be grateful.

I tend to think folk think of this website like going to the doctors! Once their feeling better, theirs no need to go back.

Mark, if you haven't strolled through the archives please do.  Cranky is an understatement.  I enjoyed it.  It was likely why some folks left of simply decided to lurk. It usually was restricted to the General Boards and I think DJ decided wisely to add Cluster Specific forum.

I must admit my visits have tapered off.  I do however check in occasionally and selfishly it is when the beast decides to visit.  I think it's to remind me that I'm not alone and immediately stamps out the personal pity party.  I relish the laughs and reading about the new remedies.  I do miss the political discussions, edgy humor and raucous banter from the old days.

If you want a wonderful example of what a family this is, go back ten years ago (almost to the day) and read the threads about the shit storm named Katrina.  I won't try to expand on what was written. I wouldn't do it right. It's one classic example of why I believe suffers of this craptastic malady are some of the kindest group of people. When you are having your ass handed to you with pain something has to balance out the agony.  Caring and kindness are the counterpoints nature is searching for.

Hey, how about that President and the useless legislative branch???...Supreme Court?

It'll smell a lot sweeter than what they get on the other side of the ditch.

And, you grouchy old man, you know I love every bone in your body... just feel the love... [smiley=bash.gif]

And Steve... I remember that time... the one thing that came to mind immediately was that woman giving you the $20. I still get choked up over that one.

But until we heard from you and Edna.. well... we worried... that's what families do.

Think I'll start a new thread... Ready to ARGUE!! Down with POLITICIANS? :-*

To you folk down under, on both sides of that ditch...... This is a big Thank You for sending those Fire Fighters up here to help keep Eastern Washington from burning to the ground.
700,000 acres+ burned and still rising. My little 40 hasn't gone up in smoke yet and maybe now it won't.

Well, yeah - but some folks might not realize that this comment comes from a guy who drove out to Las Vegas constantly - I mean every week for sure!

Who would trust a guy like that??!!

Ya can't trust those Vegans.
I don't go to Vegas much anymore. I finally realized that since I'm usually broke, don't drink, don't know how to shoot craps and don't have a hot hooker girlfriend I just don't fit in there.

While I'd love to comment here it's probably best that I don't. I learned a long time ago that some things are better left unspoken.

I will say that if DJ ever pulls the plug here, it's been nice knowing everyone. You'll never find me on FaceBook.
