Title: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by BarbaraD on Aug 25th, 2015 at 11:40am
Ok, let's get one going... It's getting to be election time...
Right now I'm on the TRUMP train. He hasn't said nuthin' I disagree with so far and I think he'd make a great prez. As to the others... Poor Jeb (as a wise lady once said) he was born with a silver foot in his mouth. If'n you lived in Texas you'd know we have a problem with ILLEGALS.. and I don't want to PRESS ONE for ENGLISH.. As to the rebel flag... that whole thing was a lot of BS in my opinion. Everyone knows the South's gonna rise again! Why do people want to REWRITE history.. some of them need to STUDY it first.. So now ... who wants to argue? I can take about any side in this so let's get on with it... :-* ![]() |

Trump's blunt rudeness mirrors people's dislike of the Fed. Govt. That's his appeal. Unfortunately most of his proposals can't be enacted.
Besides, I would never vote for a draft dodger to be Commander in Chief of the armed forces. The Constitution gives the President the duty of being Commander in Chief, the power to enter into treaties and to make appointments (judges, etc.). That's it! That's his/her job. Since when did he/she become all powerful? Trump is a frump (my buddy once told me a frump is a person who breaks wind in the bathtub and tries to bite the bubbles). |

I like what Trump is saying. He's not afraid to be politically in-correct. He's says out loud what most people think but won't for fear of offending someone. And, it's time for a businessman, not a professional politician, a chance to run the USA. I also think Trump will fade away before election day.
Clinton seems to think of herself as above the law. She's dug herself into a hole and just keeps on digging. But, she is making a hellofalot money with her shovel. Bush......nope. He's out of his league in this race. And it's time to put a stop to the families that want to keep all politics for themselves. |

When the "family" business gets to be running the government -- something is rotten in Denmark folks...
Poor Jeb said The Donald's plan for stopping illegals was too expensive -- but how much is it costing to KEEP them here? So look at the slate ... we've got POLITICIANS and LAWYERS running (not a good thing if the last couple of decades are any indication). Oh with the exception of a neuro-surgeon (who I've actually heard one good idea out of).. I've always hated Political Correctness (and never bought into it as most of you know - say what you think and what you mean...) And Bob (G) I don't think Trump will fizzle out (at least I hope not). We DO need a businessman to give running the government a try -- the politicians and lawyers sure ain't doing much of a job of it. I think what I really like most about Trump is that he MIGHT just get rid of the lobbyist in DC... and that would really solve a lot of our problems (ie., insurance and pharmaceutical lobbies for two). ![]() |
Title: Re: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by Bob P on Aug 26th, 2015 at 12:26pm
Trump won't get rid of the lobbyists, he is one ("I give money to politicians so they owe me").
On illegals, I heard Judge Napolitano explain that anyone being deported is entitled to a hearing. The courts can handle about 250,000 hearings per year. With 11 million illegals it would take about 40 years for them all to have hearings. |

Title: Re: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by Marc on Aug 26th, 2015 at 11:23pm
It is really very simple: The Constitution.
It is the law of the land and the very basis of our republic. If you don't actively support someone who openly understands this concept - you are part of the problem......... Learn about Ted Cruz Marc |
Title: Re: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by BarbaraD on Aug 27th, 2015 at 2:00pm
And Cruz is from TEXAS ... that's a plus in his column... but he's still a lawyer (minus).. But I do like the way he talks - he sticks to "issues" and doesn't try to 'outspeak' Trump.. smart on his part..
And Bob (P) WHERE does it say anything about 'fair hearings' in the constitution for illegals...(it may be there but I haven't seen it, but then again, I'm just a wimmin) And about the immigration problem.. in most "other" countries when your visa runs out - you get out of that country (you can get it renewed and come back, but you'd best not get caught with an out of date visa -- and THEY know who you are and WHERE you are - trust me on that one). But you also MUST have a visa to get into that country in the first place (some not, but more and more and more are going to visas and you sure have to have one if you WORK in that country). Our immigration (coming into this country) at airports and seaports SUCKS... And our government computer systems ... well, they're so far out of date - nobody knows what the heck is going on in this country... (anyone who's dealt with the IRS can tell you that -- their computers are not even networked so you get the SAME notice from 10 different service centers and no one has a clue when you try to straighten it out!).. What this country needs is ORGANIZATION... and I still say Trump is the guy to organize it.. :-* ![]() |

The Constitution just say that Congress will determine immigration laws.

Bob, maybe you've hit it spot on.. Congress will make immigration laws...And what they've got is a total mess.. Good night! To export an illegal by these laws - they'd be 80 before you could get them OUT!
As with most laws that Congress has made in the last several decades - they're so "vague" and worthless that they need to be Rewritten or thrown out totally and get some "common" sense into the laws we do have. I have a good friend who came here when she was five (she's 70 now) from Russia (her father was on the "death list" there). They came with "sponsors" and legally. She began school not speaking a word of English (and we didn't have translators back in those days). The family became "naturalized" citizens, never took welfare (both parents worked from the time they arrived - their sponsor gave the father a job and the mother found employment). Today Alla has two PhD's, speaks six languages and has received the Honor (from the TX governor) of being named an Honorary Admiral in the TX Navy (and I didn't even know we had one of those). She took two years off from teaching (at Rice University) to teach Russian to our Troops who were deploying. She is an American and in all the years I've known her I've never heard her say she was a Russian-American. What I'm getting at is that there are millions who came here for the same reasons that Alla's family did.. freedom and a better life. They didn't ask OUR country to change our ways for them.. they became Americans and adapted to OUR ways... If done the right way - I have no problem with immigration - but ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL and if Congress made those stupid laws - they can damn well change them.. We should not have to hire TRANSLATORS in our public schools and we should not have to PRESS "1" for English.. This is America and we need to start getting back to being Americans (and ONLY Americans). I've lived in other countries (and visited more) and no where have I seen THEM change their ways to accommodate MY ways, so WHY do we bend over backwards to not "offend" them and their ways when they're here? :-* |
Title: Re: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by Racer1_NC on Aug 29th, 2015 at 1:12am
It never ceases to amaze me that people just don't get that who they vote for actually means something. Never have understood someone that votes a certain way and then doesn't realize that those they have supported are the very ones that instituted the policies they complain about. And so it goes......

Title: Re: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by BarbaraD on Aug 29th, 2015 at 8:04am
That's right Billy Boy... people keep voting for the "career" politicians and then wonder what the hell happened?
But most people don't keep up with the voting records (or the bills voted on for that matter). All they "know" is what the media tells them and that's not very accurate. It's (the media) has come a long way from Walter Cronkite and Chet and David.. Today we just get everyone's "views" on how things are and not actual "news".. Biased? of course they are.. :-* |
Title: Re: LET'S TALK POLITICS - TIME TO ARGUE Post by Bob P on Aug 29th, 2015 at 8:31am
My point is that Trump is all mouth. Most of what he says he will do, can't be done. He can't send all the illegals home on day one! The candidates who say first secure the border then decide on a way to document the undocumented are more correct.

No matter what one thinks of the GOP, it isn't stupid. Trump isn't part of the current Klown Kar. Perhaps they'll let him make noise at the convention but they won't let him happen.
One positive effect is that the more Trump is in the news, the more the email silliness will be confined to Fox News. It's what happened to the ridiculous Benghazi daily rants. |

The talking points are always carefully crafted to minimize the very real concerns of average Americans. Most of us do not idolize your heroes: Barack, Bernie and Nancy. For the record - The GOP was high jacked too! But I don't spew their crap...... Marc |

A breath of fresh air! I used to argue that you were clearly endorsing Socialist principles and you called that "a silly notion that doesn't go anywhere." Both parties shot themselves in the foot many years ago, and without term limits - it is hard to fix. I hold our founding fathers in very high regard because of their vision. But they did not foresee that slimy people would want to be career politicians, to build their personal wealth and power base. The idea was to "serve" the people, then get on with your life. We clearly DO NOT need more of the Bush/Clinton Dynasty type thinking, nor fools wearing blinders like Obama. In short, we need people who will actually follow the Constitution - not bend, trample and ignore it. When in doubt, follow the constitution.... Marc |

Incredible hatred for FDR was the only reason it was enacted. I remember perhaps jokingly that some Republicans wanted to overturn the 22nd Amendment if it would to keep St. Reagan around.

Lots of people talk about returning to the constitution, but when their program is on the axe they quite quickly find an exception for it.
What they fail to realize is that the constitution does makes their precious pet project/law possible. So long as it is done on the local/state levels. We need to get back to a limited FEDERAL government. If the people of California wants to enact some stupid law, let them. The people of South Carolina will stay out of their way, and/or out of their state. 10th amendment The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. |
