Title: Anyone got WIN-10? Post by BarbaraD on Aug 31st, 2015 at 8:48am
I just installed it on one of my computers this weekend and am not sure about it... It's definitely different.
It won't let me play my solitaire games.. that part I don't like.. and a few other things .. but maybe I'll get used to it.. Kept 7 on the other computer... for a backup... Anyone got any views on this new program? :-* |

Not yet, because 8.1 has been flawless for me on the four Dell laptops that I run at work.
It would appear that 10 has streamlined some complaints about 8.0/8.1 - but I don't like being on the bleeding edge - so I'll sit tight for now! Give it a whirl and let us know ;) Marc |

I'm having a few problems with it right now. I'm on a network and sometimes it doesn't want to print - then it does.. strange.
I just can't get the hang of the new commands and all... But then again... I hate change.. :-* |

I've got a laptop and desktop on Win 10, with a laptop still on 8.1. I was also part of the Microsoft Insider program so I was beta testing it for a few months prior to it being released. Even beta testing wasn't really on the bleeding edge as most stuff just worked.
Overall I'd rate it as a good improvement over windows 7 and 8.1, with the upgrade working well for me. For printing issues, check that you've the latest printer driver for your printer, that should address most issues. Similarly for your Solitaire games, see if there is a later version. |

We run HDHomerun TV tuners at our house and use Windows Media Center as our entertainment solution (TV, DVR, Streaming content.) We can record and watch programs on any of our PCs and we have a PC on your TV as our DVR.
Microsoft has decided not to continue Media Center with Win10, so my home entertainment system will have to be changed to a third party solution such as Kodi. That's a lot of work and won't work exactly the same, so our house is refusing to move to Win 10 until we are absolutely forced to. I think Microsoft was not patient enough. People are finally cutting the cord in droves, but Microsoft is not recognizing that fact. Grrr. |

I updated my PC lap top to Win10. Not sure if I like it or not. Seems to be a lot of big changes and a big learning curve. But I don't use the PC much any more. My wife got tired of me always having her iPhone to play solitaire so she bought me an iPad. Now I have $400 deck of cards and I use it most of the time, like now.

I use ClassicShell on my Win8.1 machines to get the old Win 7 start button functionality. Is that going be needed with Win 10?

Windows 10 has a start button back with functionality similar to windows 7, so you won't need classic shell.

I got the free upgrade from Win 7 about a month ago. It is close enough to Win 7 that I plan to keep it.
The included MS Solitaire Collection has new versions of Klondike Solitaire and Spider Solitaire, not the same but I have gotten used to them by now. I am still having trouble with the idea of the games having ads that I have to pay to disable though... A word of caution... the upgrade saves your Win 7 installation for 30 days in case you want to go back. It gets deleted automatically after 30 days so you can't go back. |
