Title: Hereditary Post by cc45713 on Jun 1st, 2016 at 3:19pm
My dad suffered from cluster headaches from his early 20's until his early 50's, then it just never came back. That was almost 20 years ago. I've always secretly hoped the same would happen to me. But reading through the posts I'm starting to think it may be the vermapril he takes for high blood pressure. Anyone else have a family member with ch's and has anyone's ch's just gone away?
Posted this as I had the train of thought. Apologies if it's a little rambling. |

Can't recall any referece to inheritance being a factor but we do see messages talking about in families.
But general comments say that it's common for Cluster to start around 20s and starts to decline areound the 50s, tapering off to zero. These are not estimates establishe by any study that I recall. My pattern was starting about 35 and slowly tapering to zero in my mid-60s. |

Mine started in my early 20s and quit about 10 years ago at age 55.

My cluster attacks started at about age 27. They are still with me at 69.
I have never been told of anyone on either side of the family that suffered cluster headaches. |

My brother (who died at age 73) had them.
Mine started at 28. This year (age 64) they became chronic. |

Mine started at 57. Episodic to start with, but chronic for the last 18 months. But it's much less severe than it used to be. Maybe that's the D3.

Maz,
No maybe about it. I got hit first at 42. Turned chronic at 54 and much much more manageable since starting D3. I have no doubts that D3 works. Peter. |

Peter, I don't doubt it. My CH is more frequent now, but much less severe. I much prefer it this way than the seasonal kip 10s.
No cycles or seasons any more. Talking of seasons - what's the weather like now over on the Emerald Isle. It's like bloody November here. [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif] |

Maz,
Unusually, there is not a cloud in the sky for the last week and temperatures are 19/22. Beautiful weather. I'm playing loads of golf...lovely. Sorry to sound smug, but this weather doesn't happen here too often. Peter. |

I got my first hit at the age of 11. That's 33 years ago. It's nice to think they might just stop one day, but in the past few years I really learned how to live with the beast (Regimen+O2+Imitrex etc.), so life is good... :)
