Title: Regulator confused
Post by Texaswoman on Aug 25th, 2016 at 4:03pm
I've read several posts about using High Flow Oxygen. I got a prescription from my neurologist for oxygen. He wrote the script for an E tank but the regulator only goes to 6 lpm. I order the 0ptimask and have received it. I'm now confused as to what all I need to buy to get set up with a high flow:regulator, connector, transfixed adapter?  And also, how to attach the 02 kit and other parts to the tank.

Texas woman,

Welcome to CH.com. Glad you found us.

The regulator flow should be incorporated in the prescription. A copy on my own is below. The minimum you will need to deal with a full blown cluster attack is 15 LPM.

You need to go back to you doctor to get your prescription changed to 15LPM. As set out below.

The regulator fits to the top of the tank and should, ideally, be fitted by the supplier. The tube from the mask fits onto the regulator. The delivery guy should set it up for you the first time you get it.

Hope this helps. Please keep us posted,

Peter.

You can purchase a 25 lpm reg on Amazon usually for around 25-30 bucks. When the O2 supplier delivers your tanks and 6 lpm reg....smile.....say thank you and please show me how to hook up the apparatus. You can then order a higher flow regulator if you so desire and hook it up the same way.

Texas woman,

If you send me your address via private message, I will send you a 25lpm regulator. There is a huge difference between 6lpm and 15-25lpm in how fast you will be able to abort.
