Title: Tony is in for a rewire (updated, again)
Post by ClusterChuck on May 28th, 2008 at 10:41am
I just got off the phone with Tony.

It seems he was feeling some pain, in his chest, that was new.  He called the doctors, and they felt he was ok for the night, but wanted him to come in today.

They are admitting him, and are going to go back in, to replace one of the wires.  It seems his heart is too big (MY thought), and they need a bigger gauge wire.  We all know what a big heart he has ... I guess the medical team did not know, like we do! LOL!

Anyhow, let's all throw our vibes, prayers, and good ju-ju Tony's way.  I am sure he will be fine, but it sure doesn't hurt to add some extra love, prayer and good vibes and ju-ju.

And he was telling me how well the scar was healing!  Now he has to go through all that itching again!

Thought all of you would want to know ...

Tony, Pookiekins, I am sending all I gots, and all I can beg, borrow, or steal!!!

Chuck

:P  Well, that sux.  You'd think they'd have noticed that he was running on eight cylinders, and wasn't some weenie four-banger.  I could have told them that.

We need to let 'em know not to use that Mopar junk on him--I've had nothing but bad luck with that stuff.

Seriously though--all the good wishes I can send his way.  Hope to see him back here very, very soon.

Best,

George

Hey, Tonyman!

See what happens when you have a big heart?  Your docs just didn't understand that you needed a bigger gauge (  ;)).  Hell, we coulda told them that much.

Follow orders, don't chase the nurses, and please, keep the hospital gown pinned shut  ::).

Sending vibes your way

Sandy

OK, I just got off the phone with Tony ...

The doctors are trying to increase the size of their bill, I think.  They did NOT do the rewire today.  They brought him down, gave him some GOOD drugs (he feels MAHHHHHVELOUS, right now! LOL), and then decided they didn't like what was going on, and sent him back to his room.

They plan on doing a heart catheterization (sp?) to take a look around (shaved groin time!) and inject some dye.  Once they get a better idea of what is happening, they will then decide what to do.

I guess, when you are mucking around with the ticker, it is better to be safe, than sorry.  I just wish it was all over and done with.

Tony asked me to thank everyone for their wishes, prayers, etc.  It means the world to him.  Please keep it up!

I will let all y'all know anything new, as soon as I hear anything.

Chuck

Chuck,

Thanks for keeping us up to date on Tony's status.

Tony, good buddy, I can imagine all the fuss and worry you're going through, but we need you back with a clean bill of health.  Here's hoping the angiogram comes out normal and they get your ticker controller working without any discomfort.

As always, !!! MEGA-VIBES !!! Heading your way.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Ok, our Tony will be online in a bit.  He is HOME!

I will let him tell you all the details, but at least he is HOME!

One thing I WILL relate, is one that HE probably won't tell you about ...

It seems that he had TWO lovely female nurses, holding onto his .... ummm ... THING .. while they were maneuvering it around, as they shaved him ...  They made some comment about how lucky he was to have two ladies getting so personal with him ...

Then he mentioned how Ben might not be too thrilled about it, though ... Heehee!!!  Guess they ALL got a good laugh over THAT one!

Now he has to remember to put a body lotion (with aloe) on it, and baby talc to keep it from itching too bad ...

ANYHOW ......

Welcome home, Buddy!!!!

Chuck

Glad to hear you're coming home, Tony!!  I hope that you are doing better now!!

Sorry you'll have to go through more incision itching again!  I just got my stitches out on Wednesday, and they were very itchy up until that and it's been hard not to scratch at the scabs forming!  haha

Anyway - so what did they end up doing?  Are you good to go now???

I'm hoping all is well!!

Hugz,
Carrie :)

DAYUM! Here, I thought my shiny new pace maker was malfunctioning cause I was feeling surges in the center of my chest It was not a malfunction, IT WAS A HUGE WAVE OF POSITIVE ENERGY I WAS FEELING FROM THIS FAMILY!!!!

Chuck Thanks!!!! Thank you all for keeping me close to your hearts.

The other day I was feeling an unusual pressure in my chest so I called my doctor, he wanted to see me tut sweet, so at 7:00 AM it was off to Pgh Allegheny General again.

When my doc initially hooked me up to the pacer monitor he felt that one of the leads was not seated properly so he had me admitted and was going to replace the lower lead. After he got me into the OR and sedated he and the reps from St.Jude Medical watched the live xrays and EKG. He then decided not to proceed, but instead ordered a catherization for the next morning.

He explained that I may have some hidden blockage that the other tests may have missed because of the bizarre irregularities he was seeing. The catherization showed no significant blockage (only 20%) which did not warrant stents or surgery.

( I expected to awake in my room with hoses in every orifice and split in two) I'm relieved to know that my arteries are relatively clean. The doc was delighted with the diet that I've put myself on and told me to continue (Loads of fruit, veggies, grains, nuts and fish... and low saturated fats) He also switched meds on me... He wants me to get off of the Lisinipril and start taking Norvase 2.5 mg a day.... I told him that I was a bit uncomfortable with the notion of taking a vasodialator because of the ch... to which he replied... "well, try it... if it causes a problem stop taking it.

Does anyone have any experience with Norvase? Does it mess with your CH?

Anyhow I'm home now and this is written with Versed head sorry if I'm babbling incoherently.

I love you all to pieces for your compassion and kindness and I'm returning any and all unused vibes triple right back at ya.

with warm regards,
Tony

Tony,

I haven't personally taken Norvasc, but it is a calcium channel blocker - in the same category as verapamil.  Vasodilating cardiac drugs doesn't mean uncontrolled vasodilation - it really means more like smooth muscle relaxation.  Yes, the vessels do dilate, but the main purpose is to prevent constriction or spasm.  Theoretically, the Norvasc shouldn't cause a problem for CH - but hopefully some others can weigh in who've had personal experience.

Glad everything turned out well!  Sorry you had to go through it!

Hugz,
Carrie :)
