Title: Alaskan Clusterhead
Post by angela.lambert on Aug 24th, 2008 at 6:52pm
I know Alaska is a very, very, very large state.  And getting here just isn't easy at all.  But, if by chance a fellow clusterhead from clusterville happens to visit the SE region, swing into Petersburg.  I would love to meet with you and share my lovely little town.  To this day, I have not meet another sufferer, it would be great to visit in person.

I also do make 1 or 2 trips to Seattle, WA a year and then over to Friday Harbor to see my mother.  I was wondering if there are any functions planned in the Western Washington area I could plan my trips around in the next year or so.

I'm gonna bump my own message from last year.

I'm still looking for a fellow AK Clusterhead.  Or if there is some WA state Clusterheads that want to plan a get together, I can more likely make that than the LouieCon (I really wish to make that one year).
I still haven't met another CH'r and I probably won't where I live, gotta get my butt off this island.  ;)

Let's organize a combination fishing trip and convention in Alaska!!!!

My father, brothers and I try to hit Alaska every 2-3 years for a fishing trip, I've definitely fallen in love with the country up there! We've done Elfin Cove, Sitka and then farther down in British Columbia. So.....how's the fishing by you? ;)

Always with fishing on the brain!  Mrs. Guiseppi would be up for a gathering in W. Washington, perhaps in the greatest City in the US - (IMHO) Seattle! I love going there, of course August is best time of year there.

Joe it is wonderful.  Petersburg isn't as big into charter as Sitka is.  But, there isn't any competition and crowdedness like Sitka.  Many of the guys who charter from Petersburg are shocked that there isn't more.  We are a Commercial Fishing town.  And the charter guys like that, they think it is there secret.
Here is a link of charter business. Plus we have awesome fishing lodges too.

Good ol' Halibut.  The little guy is what we call a Chicken.  Small, but some meat. Usually it is diced up and used for crab bait another time.

BTW: the icebergs are everywhere, and we took some home and used it for our drinks later that night.  It's a Ptown classic thing to do.  It still humbles me to understand how old the ice in my drink is....

The nearby glacier, LeConte, has been our bread and butter and the reason this town was founded in 1890's.

Hi Angela,

We're neighbours of sorts although I'm a little north of you in Whitehorse, Yukon.  You ever get up this way?

We're about 4 hours away from Haines, AK and about 2 hours from Skagway.

AMEN to the fishing - nothing but the best, eh!
The moose meat comes a close second.

Gayle.

How Cool!!

Our softball team goes up every summer and plays in your big tournament.  I've almost went 2 summers ago.  But, I got CH early that summer and had to stay behind.  I heard the team did pretty good.

Nice to chat with a Northern Clusterhead.  Love the moose meat.  But your right, a close second.  Just had my dad's Smoked Blackcod for dinner last night.   Pickled crabtails & cajian smoked king salmon for starters.

I've always wanted to check out Whitehorse.  It sounds like such a cool place.  Been to Haines a bunch.  It would be amazing to meet a fellow CHer.  Have you meet anyone yet?  I have so much I want to talk to you about.  BTW, how's medical in Canada?

I'll PM you real soon!

Angela

Wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I lived in Juneau for a year from 2007-2008 (lots of family there). My clusters were HORRIBLE when I lived in Alaska. I thought it might have been environmental, because it seemed as soon as I moved, my cycle stopped almost immediately. =

BTW, I live in AZ now where my wife is in Dental School, and her best friend here, a 1st year Dental Student, is from Petersburg.

Her name is Kayleigh Short. Recognize the name?

I know Kayleigh Short! How cool.  I sure she knows me too.  I think I coached JV when she was on Varsity her senior year.  That girl can play some ball!  I am living in Washington State now, no longer an Alaskan Clusterhead.  Since I moved in June, haven't had a headache yet, but I cycle 1 yr plus.  How has the CH's been since you moved, not much change?  I lived between AK & WA since I started getting these when I was 14, and I can't seem to tell if one place over the other made them better or worse.

Nice to chat you up.  I hope to talk more!
