Title: I need to get this off my chest Post by Batesy on Oct 7th, 2008 at 4:44pm
Hi everyone, thank God for this site!
I'm going through a bad spell at the moment 13 attacks in the last four days. I know that's not so bad as a lot of sufferers but it's bad enough. I live in England so it's about 9:30 in the evening and i am dreading going to bed as my attacks come mainly at night waking me up. I'm also exhausted as i've had very little sleep for the last couple of nights. I had an important business meeting this morning which although really tired i attended. However, my boss wnated me to entertain our client this evening but i had to decline i just wasn't feeling up to it. Thing is, i couldn't say why. How do you tell someone who has no understanding that you can't work due to headaches? They just expect you to take a pill and it will go away. Or go and lie down and try and sleep it off ; Hah! So, i had to tell him i thought i was going down with flue. I'm sorry i've gone on for so long as this is my first message i just wanted to get it off my chest to people that understand. Thanks for reading this :-/ |

Hi Batesy and welcome. Sorry you had to seek us out but you are with a whole bunch of us now who understand your pain and not wanting to go out feeling drained and a chance of a hit in public.
Let us know about yourself, and what meds you are trying or have tried. o2 is the main abortive for most of us here. 100% o2 at at least 15 lpm with a non-rebreather mask at the very first sign of an on-coming hit. Read to your left and print some stuff off and show your doc. You are not alone anymore with this pain. Barry :) |

Carl, thanks for that. Got it from the link nice and simple 'cos i'm no whizz either.
Great letter. Apart from my wife and son no one else has seen me when i'm suffering so this is really helpfull. This site is amazing, i only discovered it today, wish i knew about it 2 yrs ago when these buggers started. I was fortunate, i was referred to a nuerologist last year who diagnosed CH. So far all the drugs i've been prescribed havn't worked but this site is so full of ideas/remedys and suggestions i feel a lot more upbeat than i did a few hours ago. Sharing it is so theraputic, i've not had this opportunity before, thats probably why i'm rambling on a bit. Thanks again |

i also grab an energy drink that has caffiene and taurine. chugged at the first hint of a hit. this has helped abort some hits during the social issue.

Hey Batesy,
Welcome to the nut hut... You need to get hold of Helen Williams, a.k.a. "LeLimey" and you need to get on oxygen therapy ASAP. Helen know the ropes on how to do it... Oxygen therapy will not stop the attacks but it will give you a hammer to beat the beast rapidly into submission AND, it will give you a sense of confidence in controlling the beast instead of the other way around. Take care, Cheers, and keep a stiff upper lip. V/R, Batch |

At the top of this "Getting to Know YOu" page is a thread called "A letter to collegues and friends" or something like that. Print it out and pass it to whomever you feel could benefit from it. It was written by a fellow Brit, Simon, and is very helpful.
