Linda told me yesterday that the power is, indeed, out in their area, and that it's not projected to come back on for weeks. They are with Jayne in Nashville right now. She believed Jimi was going to venture back to get some essentials from the house and then head back to Jayne's to ride it out.

Yes we are at Jaynes. The rest of the family is scattered in other towns. The Govenor has asked us to evacuate. Weather is still cold and the ice is still causing trees to fall. All the telephone and utility poles are down.

No food, gas, hospitals or anything is open. We are leaving shortly to go there and get clothes, clean out the freezer and refrigerator and look it over. The National Guard arrived yesterday so they may not allow us to roam too much.

We will bring our laptop back so I will be on here some. I have never in my life seen anything like this. They say over 600,000 people are without electricity and are saying 3 weeks.

I will probably kill Jayne by then or visa versa. Actually she has saved our butt.

I thought her halo just for better balancing standing on her head.  She's some top-drawer angel, right next to my picture of Goofy.  ;)

:)  lovely, Jayne.

Wow, Jimi!

Glad you folks are safe.  On the up side of things, you have entertainment.  ;)  and good company.

Hope your home and property didn't sustain damage and they get things cleaned up quickly so you can return home.

Keep safe and warm.

-P.

We are back at Jaynes. It took 2 detours to get to our house once we arrived in Madisonville. All the trees are snapped. I have a gas hot water heater so a few friends have been coming over to take a hot shower but the house was around 35 degrees inside.

We cleaned out the fridge and the freezer of everything. Undid the main circuit breaker going to the house, got more clothes, food and medicines (and laptop) and headed home.

Good news is they have power companies from many different states here now and they are hoping to have most electricity restored in a week. So that is better than originally thought.

Anyway, we are here in Nashville, Tn being entertained by Jayne so it could be worse. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. :)

Sorry to hear you are having such horrendous weather problems but how luck are you to be staying with the lovely Jayne!

Stay safe folks - hopefully you'll be able to get back into your own home soon.

Jayne, when you get tired of them fill their tank with gas and point them towards San Diego. We'll take strays!

We're closer, but it's colder here than there!  We might actually get above freezing this weekend!

Glad yo folks are safe.

I remember when we had "the great ice storm" here  Power company trucks were hauling along the NYS Thruway like convoys headed for watertown and North.  Some from as far away as GA.  Never saw so many trucks and many, many with replacement poles.  Folks may bitch about the power companys but they do band together and help each other when needed.  I would hate to be a Lineman dealing with the aftermath.

Yeah, I called Jayne the other night and when "she" answered, I thought her voice was a little deeper than what it had been....but I was informed that it was one of my CH uncles, Jimi.

Jayne, I'm praying for your sanity ;)

Take care Jimi and Ruthie!

So it is 3.22pm, Jimi has rearranged all my living room furniture so he can get closer to the TV as some basketball game is on (no clue). Ruthie is running around baking pies and getting ready to cook us all dinner (lucky me :-) ). I got back home from work on Friday and all my laundry was done and the kitchen cleaned with the fridge stocked. All while lazy ass hendrix was pottering on the computer. Our Ruthie spoils that man rotten I tell ya....ROTTEN!!
They are easy house guests to have and it is a pleasure to help out. In fact it is really nice to have some company right now.
Jimi complained this morning that the light was shinning in his eyes in my spare bedroom and it woke him up. WHAT A WALLY!!!!!! I said....."did you try closing the curtains?" ....."Oh yeah" he replied. (NO COMMENT)

Tell Jimi to close his eyes when he sleeps - it works better that way. START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

See what happens when you go to a meet & greet with them, Jayne?  You end up with unintended house guests!

I'm sure Ruthie is spoiling YOU rotten, too.  Ruthie's the BEST and I offer prayers for all of you.  Stay safe and sane.
