Title: Triggers?...Silicon? Post by corey on Jul 17th, 2009 at 4:29pm
Hello,
Just found this website today, and spent almost 4 hours reading through all of the medical stuff and other invaluable resources available here...I thought I was going to be on a lifelong quest of uncertainty, fear and PAIN!!! Long story short, I fell and knocked myself unconscious in October of 2004...within a few months I was having a beer and smoking a cigarette (which I no longer due) and started feeling nauseas...I abrubtly went inside, fell asleep and woke up to what felt like a hammer...no kidding around...a hammer...being slammed on my right temple/eye/jaw...it was the most horrible thing I have ever felt, and I truly thought I was going to DIE! It went away almost as fast as it came. Of course, this was only the beginning of a few weeks of hell, always in the middle of the night until after a few doctor visits, an MRI to get the possiblility of a tumor or aneurism out I was symptom free...and this symptom free life was happily enjoyed until 2 weeks ago this past Thursday. I did though always have sensitivity to the sun, which if ignored would give me headaches, but nothing like what I had experienced initially. Fast forward to July 2nd of 2009...which brings me to my title. My father in law gives me a tube of silicon to seal up an air conditioner wall unit. I generously apply this to all of the open areas to keep the bugs out, and come in from outside to a house that stunk like a garage full of...well...silicoe=). Now I have always had a sensitivity to cleaners, hence I cannot even walk down the cleaner aisle in the supermarket without ill effect so I knew I was in for a rough night, just how rough though I could have never anticipated, and which I need not describe to any of you as you are all here for the same reason! My question is, has ANYONE ever heard of a chemical substance (other than Alcohol which I now fear like the wrath of God) causing these headaches? Thanks for any insight or responses, I appreciate them! Regards, Corey |

Hi Corey,
strong odors are a trigger for quite a few of us. So the smell of silicone might one as well. Oliver |

Do let us know what if any meds you've tried as preventatives or to stop the actual attacks. There are many effective treatments available so you don't have to rock through 90 minute attacks. If you don't already have oxygen, do read the "oxygen info" link on the left, complete with pics. One of the best abortives going.
Welcome to the board. :) Joe |
