Title: West Texas Clusterheads?
Post by Perediablo on Jan 7th, 2010 at 10:52pm
Anyone in the west Texas area? I am in Lubbock. I am willing to travel a little to meet some fellow clusterheads. Any one want to come to Lubbock and see all of the dirt?

Dallas area here.  Sure would be nice if we could organize a Texas "meet and greet" this year!  I know we have members from the Austin area and NE Texas and OKC, maybe we could have a Red River Shootout and get all the okies and texans together at Lake Texoma this summer ( or there's always the casino right up the road in Durant, OK...LOL)!!!!

I was in the Navy stationed in Fort Worth I still have lots of friends there and travel to the area quite often. Would be a great idea to have a Texas meet and greet. I don't know about them Okies though...LOL. Only about 5 hour drive for me to DFW.

I'd love to get together and me all of our fellow Texan Clusterheads. I go to Baylor, but I live in DFW.

I'm for it... I live at RED HILL TX (about 40 miles South of Texarkana out in the "boonies"), but not that far from Dallas, OK, AR, LA or whereever...

Dallas is probably more central. We have some CHers in the Austin and Houston area also. Maybe they could get to the DFW area. A 3-4 hour drive isn't bad for any of us (is it?).

Someone find a cheap hotel (with smoking available and room service and free breakfast and, and  ;D) and let us know a date and we'll get it together. Count me in....

Seriously, that's a great idea. Dallas or Ft. Worth would be great. We did it one year in Dallas and had a great turn out. I forget what hotel, but it was really a nice weekend. Denny check around and see what you can come up with.

Hugs BD :-*

I'll be glad to look around for whats available Barbara.  Should we wait awhile and see how many folks weigh in on the thread and try to get a feel for a target date and anticipated attendance?

How bout a springtime bash in late march?  We live  on the far SE side of Dallas County in Seagoville just outside of Dallas.  We have a large covered deck and patio with a firepit and a fairly large living/dining/music room which we are more than happy to offer as a meeting place ( where smoking is definately allowed..lol...).  There are several motels within 10 miles of us (although I would need to check them out as I've never stayed at any of them ) for sleeping arrangements.  It should be warm by then and we could all pitch in and run cross the street to Wally World and get some stuff to throw on the grill.

Just an idea that I thought I would throw out there.  I will also start checking on other accomodations in Dallas with the availability of a (smoking allowed) bar or meeting room so I can post that information also. If we opt to have the m-n-g at a motel it would have to be after Valentines day for me as I deliver flowers part time and that is our busiest time of the year.

Barbara, I have email address's and have corresponded with Marc down in Bastrop and another guy out of Austin so will contact them about our plans as well.

Anyone who would like can contact me via email at lonnyreddkaraoke@att.net or via my blackberry at 214.356.4477.

Sounds like a winner to me. A backyard barbeque.

Ya know the funny thing -- a bunch of us flew to Florida for a hamburger cookout and we had a great turnout...

How far are you from DFW? (In case someone wants to fly in - we have to go pick them up you know...).

Late March sounds great to me...

Hey Barbara,

We're about 45 miles from DFW but it's not a bad drive as it's  all major freeways to within 2 blocks of our place.

I just looked at a calendar and the 3rd weekend in Mar would be the 20th and 21st which would make it the DalCon "Welcome to Spring" meet-n-greet....lol...

I will begin searching out accomodations within the next few days and post the information as soon as I have it.

Hey Ya'll

So far we have perediablo from Lubbock, BarbaraD from Douglasville, keeper5689 from here in the metromess, Marc from Bastrop, and Phil and his wife Jen (founders of CH.org) who currently live in MI but are moving to McAllen soon.  I've also recieved an email from a couple (both CH'ers) in Mesquite but they haven't confirmed yet that they will be able to attend.  I've also exchanged PM's with a new member of the board from Denton who wants to attend if they don't have to be out of town that weekend.

OK Ya'll,

Found a fairly new Best Western Exec Inn less that a mile from the house this morning.  Rate for a single person room in $65.34 including tax.  I have an appointment with the owner this afternoon to take a tour of the rooms and to discuss a reduced group rate and will post that info this evening.  Since everyone so far has been receptive to my wife and I hosting the meet n greet at our place, I'm not going to look into other accomodations that would include a meeting area unless someone specifically wants me to???

So now I gotta get busy and build some new pits for the horseshoes and dig the washer box's out!!  Oh, I can't remember (CRS strikes again) if I posted the fact that I have an entertainment business hence my lonnyreddkaraoke email address...lol...I actually don't do karaoke shows very often but I have a real nice professional karaoke system that I use for back up in my Classic Country Music Revue shows that I put on at nursing homes, fundraisers, benefits, ect.....so.....all you undiscovered STARS have your voices in shape!!   LOL!!

Just got back from meeting with owners of the Best Western Executive Inn here in town.  They gave me a tour of the rooms and it is a very nice, clean facility.  They have a free breakfast, free hard wired internet, and the ususal in room amenities (iron, board, coffee, safe, hair dryer, ect).  The normal weekend nite price for a single room with a king size bed is $65.oo + tax for a total of $72.57.  , and a double room with 2 queen size beds is $69.99 + tax for a total of $76.97

If we book 10 rooms she will drop the price to $55 + tax for the double and $50 + tax for the single and if we end up booking over 10 rooms she will take care of the tax.  We didn't discuss the rate if we don't book 10 rooms but the owner seemed very nice and I feel sure she'll be fair in applying a proportional discount in that case.  We already have 4 that will need rooms so I didn't think 10 would be too much of a stretch to make with 2 months to go before the meet n greet.

They have 4 double and 4 single (smoking allowed) rooms and they are all on the ground floor for those of ya'll that have to pray to the nicotine God on occasion like myself...lol.

Best Western Executive Inn
1910 N US Hwy 175
Seagoville, TX  75159
Direct Phone # 972-287-9100
Reservations:  1-800-528-1234

Our Reservation Code is    CHMNG

Oh BTW, all ya'll rowdies might want to tone it down just a tad as the Seagoville Federal Detention Center is directly across the highway...LOL!!

Our place in across the highway and about a mile east of the motel:    603 Meadow Grove Drive.
