Title: O2 question
Post by Bri13 on Apr 12th, 2011 at 3:50pm
I want my man to try O2 and he has no insurance any way I can do this without insurance and paying an arm and a leg. I need my limbs to take care of him. He can't have a big tank where he is staying now but can he do a smaller tank somehow.

Our insurance covers the 02 but we haven't met our deductible yet so we're paying out of pocket. We have 6 e-tanks in the garage right now and I'm paying $35/month. Joe uses a demand regulator so his o2 actually lasts longer I think than it would with a non re-breather.

At any rate just wanted to put the pricing in perspective for you.

I too am paying out of pocket right now, until  I meet my deductible.  $126.00 a month for two M tanks and three E tanks.

Some go the welder's route.... I hear it's cheaper.

Go to the link in yellow to the left of here "Oxygen info"  and scroll down a little bit and there are tank sizes that you can see there.

Leaving the Ins. Co. out of the picture I sat down with the manager of my supply place Lincare or Apria and made a deal with them for 10.00 per e-tank.  You can buy a regulator on-line very inexpensively.

Going the welders 02 route is a good idea also.  You won't need a script from a doctor for it, but there are usually very large.  I have both.

They don't have to be large tanks for welding O2, it's just cheaper that way. Refills of my big welding "T" sized welding tanks cost me the equivalent of $ 1.45 per E tank.

Welding O2 tanks are available down to tiny little tanks that are about 1/3 of an E size. (Not that I would want one that small!)

Marc

THANK YOU Marc...I had always assumed (dumb!) that these tanks were the "big boys" that I couldn't wrestled up my stairs. Now, know better...will soon be needing....and will get...thanks to you....

Best,

Jon

Jon, you're not the only one who always thought welders tanks were big.  Every time I've gone to refill mine, that is all I saw.  The huge ones.   Live and learn, eh?
