Been looking for an excuse to take a trip back to Vegas.  I just might have found it.  Will depend on if my project is finished.

Anybody go to one of these before?  Were the past ones any good?

I, too, will be there.

TMJB - There's nothing like a meeting of fellow clusterheads. Nothing.

Get your project done.

TJMBeaver,

I highly recommend you attend, even if you are not interested in busting.  Two reasons for this:
  1)  You will LEARN!  There will be so much info available and knowledgeable people to discuss things with that you will walk away with so much more understanding.  This is not just academic.  What you pick up in person is so much more valuable than what you can glean on here simply because it is so much more understandable.  The interaction with others allows for better understanding than just reading about it.
  2)  Being with, and associating with other clusterheads is so liberating!  Just being able to talk with someone else who understands what is going on in your life without having to explain if you just disappear for a while.  To have people knowledgeably offer help if you get hit, and then leave you alone until you are OK without looking at you like you just grew a new eye.  Until you have experienced it you have no idea how liberating that is!
  3)  Associating with other clusterheads who are moving on with their life without a victim complex gives you so much hope and encouragement!  I know I always walk away feeling so much better about myself after such a meeting.  Once you have been to one you won't feel good about yourself if you miss another.

  4)  You will walk away knowing a family that you would not have known otherwise.  You will make friendships that mean so much to you later.  I remember the first time I went to a get together.  I walked into the room and saw Thomas.  We instantly knew each other it seemed.  I thought he was going to break my ribs with the hug he gave me, and I know he thought the same about the one I returned.  He was my first clusterhead, and he is not my friend.  He is now my brother, and I love him dearly!  I also met Lady E (Elaine), Blake and Jackie, Ramon and Woobie, Jean, Ladyluv (Ruthie) and a bunch more that I could name if I tried.  I hope you get the idea.  That was over 10 years ago, and I cannot drive by the Best Western in Davenport IA without feeling homesick.

I said two things, but I could never count very well.  I could add others, but I hope you get the point.  If you can possibly make the time and beg, borrow, or steal the money you should go.  If it doesn't make a huge difference in your life and the way you deal with CH let me know and I will refund your money.

Jerry

Bob/Jerry

Thanks for the input.  Will see how things look on the project the end of this month.  Hopefully a rather last minute registration will not be an issue.

Late registration is not a problem.
But getting a room at the rate of $85 a night in Vegas will be a problem if you leave it much longer.  The absolute cut-off date for the Rio is August 19.

Hope to see you there.

Hi there,
For many reasons would love to attend this conference.  I will look into the possibility, though I realize time is short.  You have an amazing panel, great job and congrats :)

Always,
Pep

Great to see you're going to be able to make it Joe.

And thanks to everyone else for all the supportive comments.

Jerry, thank you. it is important for those of us putting this all together to know what it means to people.
We do the easy part providing the venue. it's the people and the connections made that can't be planned or added to an agenda. It just seems to happen.

Looking forward to seeing many of you there.

Bob

I am there! Arrive Thu. eve, leave Sun.
When I printed my "Ticket" after registering it had the No. 58 on it... I assume that means we passen 60 registered about now (although that number could mean nothing).

Looks like 85 to 100, not sure right now.

I also posted this in the thread on the meetings board:

I just checked online today and the Rio appears to have opened up another few rooms for the conference, still at the $85 rate.   Don't know how long that will last, so if you are thinking of going you should book now!
