Title: Oxygen , please advise Post by cch on May 6th, 2016 at 4:46pm
Hi all,
I used to use Oxygen tubes when I have attacks but changing the tubes are very hard in my country Egypt so I googled around and find there is a device can generate oxygen so I went to medical supplier shops and I found it They have 5 liter mad in China and cost 5000 Egyptian pounds another made in USA and cost 6000. I asked too for device that can give 10 liter so they told me it cost 16000 !! Because this device is expensive I need to know does the 5 liter is enough to stop the attack or I need the 10 liter device ? please advise |

Cch,
NO......5 litres or 10 litres is not sufficient. The minimum you need is 15 litres/minute flow. I have looked at these machines before and never found one with a high enough output. Best, Peter. |

Hi
The oxygen generating device is an oxygen concentrator and for most people they do not work well for aborting cluster headaches. This is why people use the oxygen cylinders as they are 100% pure oxygen and you can get a higher flow rate. |

cch,
Have you read up on the D3 Regimen here. If not, read about it in the Medications and Treatments section under the thread: 123 days pain free... It works for a lot of us. Best, Peter. |

For many years I aborted attacks using 7 lpm. Would abort an attack in 5 - 10 minutes.

Many thanks Batch, the D3 causes me to have more attacks it increased from 2 to 6 per day
I want to ask you all also is it possible that 5 liter oxygen concentrator mean the size or something other than flow rate ? the seller does not know. |

cch,
5 litres means flow rate. The concentrators produce 5 litres per minute of approx 90% Oxygen. Likewise with the more modern 10 litres machines. (90% Oxygen). This means that the real Oxygen flow rate can only be 4.5 or less on a 5ltr machine. (Or 9 for a 10ltr). This is sufficient for people suffering from advanced COPD and coronary conditions, for example, but not for Cluster Headaches. To be frank, I'm surprised the vendor doesn't know this. Peter. |

Thanks a lot Peter, I am surprised to find oxgen conecntrator in my country !! I think the 10 liter device would work for me as I used to abort the attack with 10 liter from the cylinder but 10 liter concentrator is very expensive it cost 16000 pounds (about $1600) so I think I will just buy another cylinder.

cch,
Probably best to stick with the tank and follow Batch's ventilation method to get the best value from your tank. Can I recommend the mask that is available here. Have a look at the yellow tab above left, entitled CH.COM Store. The mask is superior to anything else I have ever tried. Keep well, Peter. |

cch,
I also meant to say that you would be well advised to give the D3 Regimen another go. With Batch's guidance I feel sure that it would benefit you greatly. Peter. |
