Does anyone have a specialist in the Sarasota area?  I moved a few years ago, and the new neuro doesn't seem well versed.

Greetings.
My CH friend in Sarasota goes to Dr. Kassiceh at Sarasota Neurology.  She said he's a pleasant guy and quite easy to get in to see. He also has a website. Phone: 941-955-5858. Hope this helps.

Sent you a PM.  Though its a bit of a drive for you, Dr. Dana Pollock of Clinical Neurosciences in Tampa/Clearwater is a real pro with an open mind and great manner.  Their practice treats a dozen or so CH patients.

LOCATING HEADACHE SPECIALIST

1. Yellow Pages phone book: look for "Headache Clinics" in the M.D. section and look under "neurologist" where some docs will list speciality areas of practice.

2.  Call your hospital/medical center. They often have an office to assist in finding a physician. You may have to ask for the social worker/patient advocate.

They will send a list of M.D.s for your state.I suggest using this source for several reasons: first, we have read several messages from people who, even seeing neurologists, are unhappy with the quality of care and ATTITUDES they have encountered; second, the clinical director of the Jefferson (Philadelphia) Headache Clinic said, in late 1999, that upwards of 40%+ of U.S. doctors have poor training in treating headache and/or hold attitudes about headache ("hysterical female disorder") which block them from sympathetic and effective work with the patient; third, it's necessary to find a doctor who has experience, skill, and a set of attitudes which give hope of success. This is the best method I know of to find such a physician.

Since this is a new program, the initial listing is limited and so it should be checked each time you have an interest in locating a headache doctor.

Better late reply than never, as this is a life long disease. Sorry to read of the pain and frustration. You came to the right place for help.

How many miles are you willing to travel?

I have a list of doctors in FL who are familiar with treating CH's and that were recommended from CH sufferers who reside in FL.

I'm not too familiar with the geography of where these cities are located and to avoid typing out a long list...please review and advise if you would be willing to travel to a doctor in any of the following cities...

Altamonte Springs, Davie, Delray Beach, Ft. Meyers, Jacksonville, Miami, Orange City, Pensacola, Plantation, Pompano Beach, Port Saint Lucie, St Cloud, Sebastian, Tampa, Tampa Bay, Venice.

Sorry no listings I can refer in Sarasota proper.

Please PM me as I do not check this board often and will type out the recommended doctors according to the cities you want info.
