Title: Issues with Verapamil and Prednisone
Post by coreyn on Jul 28th, 2016 at 7:24am
Hi everyone,  i was in remission for about 2 yrs and the CH have come back.  I started the usual process of 10 days prednisone and 240mg of verapamil.  I was on the meds for 6 days when I started feeling sick.  My body was sensitive all over like I had one giant bruise, my head was foggy and I was having really bad stomach pains.  I dont recall feeling this way in the past.  The good news was that while i was taking these meds I didnt have any CH just shadows.  I decided to stop taking the meds and see what would happen.  Of course the CH are now in full swing.  I just started D3 supplements and fish oil yesterday, I am hoping that will work, only problem is that in Toronto I can only find 1000 IU of D3 which means I need to take 10-20 pills daily to get the recommended level.  I also tried taking a redbull last night when i felt a CH coming on but I dont think it had any effect.  Sorry for my rambling, has anyone else experienced issues with these meds any other comments ?  I hope everyone is having a pain free day

1. Hope you are working with a good headache specialist.

2. Think of the Verap-Pred as a self-contained package.
Think of the D3 approach as a second, self-contained pacakage. 3. Anything else you use as another self-contained package.

Now, if you get relief, which package is responsible?
Your stuck: either take all 3 pacakages  to get relief OR you have to try dropping one package at a time until you step getting relief.

Mixing them up onlly leads to confusion.

Coreyn,

Welcome. I can't advise on the Meds, but I'm sure someone will be along soon enough to answer your question.

You can get D3 gel capsules of 10,000 iu strength from Iherb.com at very reasonable prices. I buy the container of 360 capsules to get the best value for money.

Delivery is fast enough, within a week for me and I live in Ireland.

Do you have home oxygen ?????????

Hope this helps,

Peter.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  I went online and ordered a high dose D3 which will surely beat taking 20 pills.  The good news is the D3 does seem to be working.  I still get pressure or phantom headaches but they never fully materialize.  A hell of a lot better than the KIP 7-9 i typically experience.  If I want to knock out the pressure headaches a Maxalt seems to do the trick most of the time.
