Title: CH and marijuana
Post by Mike NZ on Jun 27th, 2017 at 11:41pm
Whilst "conventional wisdom" is that marijuana smoking and CH should not be mixed based on marijuana being a vaso dilator, things might not be so clear cut from some recent research.

While it's still very complicated and a controversial science Neurologist Dr. William Young, director of Jefferson University Hospital's world famous headache center, says the new study out of Amsterdam looks to be the most promising one. It focuses on treating migraine and cluster headaches with chemicals found in marijuana like CBD and THC  that affect brain and nerve receptors.

Whilst the paper admits that there is very limited research in this area, it does propose a potential mechanism around how it could help with CH and migraines.

Although this isn't, yet?, a high quality medical research study using a double blind protocol, etc., it is something which may help people with CH.

Posted on this a while back, and there have been some reports here that CBD rich strains help while THC rich strains are not so good.  I just started another thread to discuss this. One of the problems is that there is so much variability in the chemical contents of cannabis - some strains may make it worse, others may help some people ... but the strains most likely to help (high CBD) are not as common as the high THC strains used for recreational purposes.
