Title: Vitamin d3 regimine help.
Post by JPanos88 on Jan 18th, 2018 at 12:33pm
Hello, long time lurker of the site and forum. I've had these since I was about 13. I honestly don't know my cycles as they seem sporadic, I hadn't had them for about 3 years, trying everything to stop them when they do come ( water, niacin, energy drinks) anything I've read I've tried while getting the ol "seems like you have classic migraines" from doctors around here after cat scans, mri everything.  Just recently started the D3 suggestion on Sunday with the loading doses of 50000iu, coincidentally I had some Benadryl that was prescribed to me for "migraines" so I've been taking that also 2 times a day since Tuesday.  Still getting a hit that I'm having to abort with imitrex, typically in the morning.  Not sure if there's something I'm missing or, hasn't been long enough.  Just looking for some suggestions.  I do have a doctor's appointment this afternoon with a new doctor, not expecting anything different than the usual but will ask about the lab test.

Hi and welcome

Are you working off the latest D3 info - START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE. D3 can do some amazing stuff, so hoping it works for you soon.

It can be pretty tough to find doctors with good training and experience with headache, so hopefully your afternoon appointment went well.

Have you got anything to abort your CHs? Oxygen? Imitrex or similar?

Tell us more and we can possibly help further.

Hi and welcome,
The vitamin D regiment doesn't always kick in when in a cycle, it didn't for me, but I persisted, and kept taking it, that was five years ago and I haven't had a visit from the beast since.

Thank you for your responses.  Imitrex seems to work for me as long as I take it early enough. The doctor stated she wouldn't be able to get me oxygen, so that's a no go atm. I do have the newest form of the d3 info, I am now taking verapamil as of yesterday, does that change anything about the d3 regiment?

What did the doctor say about oxygen?

Is seeing another doctor to get it an option? Another alternative that some people have done is to use welding oxygen.

As soon as it came out of my mouth she shot it down immediately. She referred me to a Neuro, Lord knows when that appt will be, maybe something will change after speaking with them.

So long as you're not taking a calcium supplement, then taking the verapamil and the regimen is fine.

Why she shot it down matters.

If it is that she can't prescribe it, then fine, just find who can.

If it is that she doesn't believe in it or similar, then she is not up to date with CH treatment.

JP,

Where do you live in the world? We may be able to steer you to a Doctor who specialises in CH.

you need to get your level up around the 80ng/ml mark for the regiment to have a chance of working.
