The days are certainly getting shorter, the clocks go backwards in a few weeks, it is now cooler in a morning, which is a sure sign that winter is coming.

Although the worst of our winter is probably more aligned with an average spring day for Ireland / the UK.

I'm with Peter - roll on summer.  It's the 2nd of April today and the north of England is having heavy snow fall.  I live in the south and we've had nothing but rain for weeks.

Move to New Zealand.

It is the 3rd April, so in terms of seasons being reversed, it is like it being the 3rd October. Today it is certainly getting cooler as autumn (fall) approaches with a high of 24C (75F) and an overnight low of 17C (63F). It is almost time to get out the duvet and to take a jacket to work.

Whilst some might suggest Oz is better, we've no snakes, crocodiles or spiders that try to kill you, plus we do have good beer and wine. What more could you ask for?

Mike,

Sound very like Ireland, and just as green and beautiful, I imagine.

Peter.

There is a degree of similarity between the west coast of the South Island and the west coast of Eire, with both having a large body of water to their west with a similar impact on their climate.

The North Island is a lot warmer and yet in areas wetter too at times.

This has a good overview.

As to the beauty, having seen a lot of the area around Galway and Mayo, plus a lot of NZ, both have beauty of their own.

Then there's also the beauty of a good Aussie beer.

Equinox notwithstanding.
