Title: Unusual mention of Cluster Headache
Post by Mike NZ on Jun 13th, 2018 at 2:59am
I've a Google alert for stuff on Cluster Headache which is great for keeping me up to date with anything new. But I got a surprise today with a news article from here in NZ.

Quote:
New Zealand First caused a cluster headache for the Justice Minister Andrew Little after appearing to change its mind before on the repeal of Three Strikes legislation.
...

Quote:
Then on Monday afternoon the cluster intensified when Mr Peters' continued legal action over his leaked superannuation payment was revealed.

I've never before seen someone use "cluster headache" in this way and I wonder how many people really understand the true meaning?

Any other mentions of CH in the wild?

I wonder if the author is a sufferer or perhaps knows someone who is...

Perhaps a variation of a familiar term we use in the US when something is really messed up, we call it a cluster...k. ;D ;D ::) I'll let you fill in the gap!

I suspect this may be the reason the reporter used the term.

We all know about clusters,  variously as sufferers or supporters.

98% of the world's population know nothing about clusters  -  a simple fact we all know so well.

Presume you've never heard of our dread disease and re-read the article.  Both references to  "cluster"  are non-sensical and it's a reporter's job to write in a sensical way.

I'm all in favour of greater awareness of the nightmare we must endure but this bloke might benefit from a little remedial training in how to write simple sentences that everyone can understand.

These days that may be asking a tad much. Just saying....

NZ journalism isn't quite in the top tier of world journalism and that was an example of it.

Sadly things like what some celebrity is wearing or what a journalist found on Twitter is all too often more important than investigative skills.

Same all over the world, Mike.

What passes for journalism these days is often nothing more than “cut & paste” laziness and all too often, very poor literary, spelling and editing skills.

“Dyslexics of the world untie”, for example.
