Title: The lucky ones.
Post by maz on May 30th, 2019 at 11:12am
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones - just been diagnosed with my 2nd "hedache" condition.
Ocular migraine.  Horrible.  Double vision and large blind spots.  I couldn't even drive myself to the doctors.

Bummer! Welcome to the club.  :-/ My migraines came before CH, including the aura. A couple of years before the CH arrived, the headache part stopped, but the auras have never stopped. Very inconvenient! If you're out and about, you just have to stop for a while, and let it pass. Sorry to hear this.

Thanks Patti
Had CH for 11 years now but in some ways this ocular migrsine is worse.  No where near as painful but more debilitating.  Constant dull headache and not being able to see properly is the worst experience I've ever had.

I hate not being able to go out by myself.  I often would get in my car and go off somewhere on my own.  Now, I need a babysitter in case I can't see where I'm going - and no driving for a while.

Hey Maz. Though I’m only a CH supporter I suffer from ocular migraine. Had one today for the first time in a year actually. While they are definitely awful, the longer I’ve had them I can actually start to tell earlier and earlier before my vision is completely blinded. Today I was able to detour to a coffee shop fairly easily and “wait out” the aura portion. I will say the pain that accompanies it isn’t as bad as it used to be. A combination of strong coffee, lots of water, and goodys headache powder actually helped me get through the second half of my workday. Sorry you were diagnosed and I hope they are rare for you!

Welcome to a rotten club, Maz.  Fair dinkum, I wouldn't wish this sort of thing on a politician!

I've long found it best always to attack these monsters as entirely separate entities rather than trying to combine methods to beat both.

As a little point of interest,  some of our best CH treatments like immigran and oxygen started life to help with migraines  (we simply hijacked them)  so at least you're off to a good start.

You also have Len and us to rely on as always.

Good luck and keep us up to date,

Your mates down under.

All the best people have CH and migraines.

A lot of what applies to CH will also work for migraine, but they can be different in what medications work, your triggers, etc. So treat them as being two distinct headache types.

Whilst D3 sorted my CH, it was only when I also started the keto diet that my migraines dropped significantly.
