Title: Nice to meet everyone!
Post by BoomBoomBap on Jan 19th, 2020 at 2:15am
Hello All,
I am almost 40. I've been getting these headaches since high school. They went misdiagnosed for many years. I first thought they were sinus infections. Then I thought they were migraines. Finally I was able to find out they were called cluster headaches.

I normally have them once or twice a year. They last for 3-5 weeks. I have tried triptans. They work for me, but make me feel like crap. For the longest time, I just used OTC meds to deal with the symptoms, but taking headache pills for 3-5 weeks would have me feeling like crap.

I tried psilocybin mushrooms before. After two doses, the headaches went away for about 3-4 years. But they recently came back. I tried dosing with mushrooms again, but they didn't work for me this time.  :'(

I'm glad there is a community out there for sufferers of CH now. Before, many of my friends and family thought I was making it up.

I have an interest in creating a new survey to see if the CH community can gather enough data to help determine we all have something in common that was missed. The survey that was available on this site got a ton of responses, but I believe it could have been a lot more thourough. Would anyone be interested in developing a new survey we could promote on this forum and on others that could possiblyhelp medical professionals figure out possible causes or cures?

G'day BoomBoom and welcome aboard.

There's no doubt ours is a dreadful headache to live with but happily there are lots of things to consider other than just triptans and mushrooms.  Both are great,  no question,   but it also pays to look at all the other alternatives as well.

Misdiagnosis like yours has been such a problem for so many for so long,  even worse for our ladies,  but once you have a handle on this rotten thing it means the only way is forward and there are so many delights right here.

No cures,  we admit,  but some terrific management techniques.

As to surveys looking for a common theme,  there have been so many.  About the only sure statistic to come out of the whole lot of them is that no two ClusterHeads are the same,  except we must all share our lives with this monster.

There's heaps of good info here and you're welcome to every last particle,  simply let us know how we can help.

All headaches are horrible,

Brian down under.
