Passed the beer test...
May 26th, 2008 at 4:12pm

It looks like another cycle is in the books.  Haven't had a hit in the last few weeks.  Had to chase some minor shadows away with O2 last week but nothing since.

Sat down with the wife and some of the kids last night and enjoyed 6 cold ones out by the first fire of the summer season.  Nothing!  It felt awesome.

Let the summer begin!

This cycle left none too soon as next weekend is my Son's bachelor party.  It’ll be me and 16 twentysomethings on the Saco River.  I can't wait!

I have to say that this is by far the easiest cycle I've had in years.  And I caulk that up to the great advice and guidance I've found here among you all over the last year. So…

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

-Dennis-

Where there is Oxygen, you must use proper caution.
So be safe, don't smoke while using O2. Kill the pain and not yourself.

Dang we love success stories! Gives us all hope. Congrats Dennis, remember to give your boy the 5 rules for a happy marriage!
1: you wre right
2: I was wrong
3: I don't know what I was thinking
4: It'll never happen again
5: I'm sorry

It's bought me over 25 years, may it do the same for him!

I always had the worst headaches after alcohol (even after very small doze), I started a new treatment some time ago... I drank a beer with my friends and surprisingly I didn't get any pain... I was very happy but after two days my headaches started again :/

Anyway I hope it will be PF for you and have fun Smiley

(new board is awesome btw, previous one was quite slow Tongue)

Hello I'm new here, currently in my 3rd cluster in 5 years and was curious about other clusterheads reaction to alcohol.  I manage a live music venue and drink beer 3 or 4 nights a week.  I almost never get a headache right after drinking or even the night of.  It usually will be a day or 2 after drinking which I think would have happened whether I drank beers or not?  if I don't get a headache the same night as drinking does that mean that alcohol isn't a trigger for me?  also can / does alcohol prolong a cycle for anyone out there?  I haven't had a beer in a week just to be safe and think I'm getting close to the end of my cycle, in my 5th week, and would love a beer but I will wait if it means my cycle will be over sooner. -Scott

Hi Scott,

Welcome!  If I have a beer when I'm in cycle I get nailed within minutes.  If you don't get nailed quickly maybe beer isn't a trigger for you.  Wouldn't that be nice.

It's Tuesday.  I'm finally recovered enough to give you all an update.  This was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time.

My main goals were achieved:
1. Don't be the first to pass out.  That honor went to my Son-In-Law: 5pm day 1.  He slept through till 8am the next morning. Roll Eyes
2. I didn't puke.  Though at least three others did that I know of.  I guess I won't keep that folding chair  Undecided
3. No hits.  No shadows.  No beast.  Cool

We were on the beach by 10am Saturday.  It rained quite a bit but never lasted longer than an hour and a half.  Temps were chilly but there was plenty of antifreeze available. Wink  Only had to don my rain suit once.  The boys had a good laugh at how long that process took  Roll Eyes  I swear it was defective.

Polish horseshoes, Beruit (Beer Pong) and 45s were the games that kept things going.  Of course the first two are drinking games.  All played with a lot of laughter.

The feastivities went till around midnight with the hard core and those recovered enough from earlier continuing till 3am or so.  I followed the groom into the family tent around 12:30am.

Sunday dawned to one of the boys making Hunter's Pie for breakfast:

. 5 lbs of Maple smoked bacon
. 2 dozen eggs
. 2 large packages of frozen home fries
. 3 lbs of shredded chedar cheese

All thrown together in an 18" cast iron dutch oven set on an open fire and chased with what was left in the cooler  Cool

We were on the road home by 1:30pm.  Truly a weekend to remember.

I have another Son getting married September of 2009.  He already said this is where he wants his bachelor party too.  I can't wait  Grin

That's brilliant news.  Mine have gone from up to 5 a day to 2 or 3 a week, but can't even smell alcohol without bringing one on.  So whlst you're out in the sun sinking a cold one, raise a glass and have a cold one for me.  Enjoy xxx

Too cool, Dennis!  I'm still under the thumb of the beast, but I test it everyday.  Yesterday, had a few brews, had a 10.  Today, trying some vodka, and it ain't too bad, o2 is handling it.  He's trying to leave, but for some reason, hangin' around.  Course, being in 'Bama, we don't have fires down here in the summertime if we can help it.  Too hot.   Grin

This is some fantastic news!! I believe I am out of my cycle as well. Had a few beers on Memorial Day with my father in law and did not get hit once. And took myself off slowly from Verapamil. Chased away shadows with some aleves.

I lose a couple months in cycle, but do my best to catch up in-between.  It is so good to have a few beers.  Also great to get back to Chinese food!

Great news!
