New to Cluster Headaches.
Jun 3rd, 2008 at 3:16pm

A nice fellow from youtube sent me to this site, and it looks really wonderful.
So my name is Darren, and about 5 weeks ago ive been suffering from cluster headaches but not sure it was till about a week ago.
So the story is this, (im 22 by the way Smiley  ) my friends told me i should try some marijuana to calm myself down, and feel the "wonderful" feeling of drugs.. well i tried it, and smoked enough "to get high" well, my high was different from what they said..
I say a bright light over my nose and it started to burn/heart my head and face and it slowly got bigger and bigger and bigger burning hotter and hurting more and more, and it had this high pitch ring to it. and it knocked me on my ass and hurt so hard that i told my friends to call an ambulance..
The thing was, i wasnt sweating, i wasnt hot, but my heart was racing. The hospital just saw me as i was high on some drug and passed me off. Well 2 weeks later my friends just said it was a first time high.. well i smoked again, about a 1/4 of a joint, and the effects happened again.. and again, like 4 times in a row.. at this point i called my parents and they took me home and tried to tell me it was just a drug.. well the next day, it hit, and the day after, and so forth for the next 3 weeks till finally i was like, i must see a doctor, well it turns out the doctor told me it was cluster headaches..
So mine are the ones where the aura is like a ball that burns my skull Sad  and sometimes is horrendiously painfull and like last night it was weak but there.. other than that, im a normal person just suffer from a headache that happens.. more than normal people =P

Oh and having OCD doesnt help Sad

Interesting: as a smoker of Old Ive often wondered if there is a connection, PS. the hospital didn't pass you off because you were stoned They just don't worry about headaches.  As my doctor say's
headache wont kill you but the cures might.  I realised this after sittting in hospitals a few times for 5 to 8 hours thank god for paramedics that gave me morph Smileyine, ps morphine doesn't take away the pain just makes you not care about the pain.

Has anyone else found a connection between pot and cluster migranes??

Hi Darren,

Welcome!  As the saying goes; I'm glad you found us but sorry you had too.

There is much to learn.  I hope you like reading Wink  Knowledge is your best weapon.  We're not doctors here but we have a lot of collective experience and are willing to pass it along.

There is much to learn.  Start with the links on the left.  Read through them all.  Then read through the stickied threads in the different forums.  Then read through everything on Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register.

But above all, start with the cluster quiz to the left.

Were you diagnosed by a Neurologist or Headache Specialist?  You use a few terms like "Aura" that are most typically associated with Migraine and not with CH.  That could just be terminology but it's best to make sure you have an accurate diagnosis.  There are over 600 headache types and symptoms overlap quite a bit between them.  Fighting one HA type with tools for another can be dangerous.  We want to make sure you get the right treatment.

Anyway, welcome to the nut house.  Let us know how we can help.

Where there is life, there is hope.
Where there is Oxygen, you must use proper caution.
So be safe, don't smoke while using O2. Kill the pain and not yourself.

Welcome to the board, if you do have CH you'll probably want to avoid weed while you're on cycle. It's a vaso diolator...(sp?)....for us CH folks...that's bad! But then I bet you already guessed that! Wink

Have you been to a neuro for a solid CH diagnosis? There are many very effective treatment regimens that will allow you to manage this condition and maintain some sense of normalcy! There are hundreds of different headache types, the meds that work for one can be useless or even harmful for another so a solid diagnosis is very important.

Hoping you catch some pain free time soon.

Sorry i haven't replied in the last month, But i will now Smiley
So, to start off, Yes my Neurologist Diagnosed me with Cluster headaches. My Doctor also told me that having Cronic migranes as a kid it was triggered by smoking the marijuana before that. So i did some tests with my docter (2 weeks Sad  ) and it turns out im highly allergic (not anaphaltic ) to marijuana and the plant family of it. And smoking the amount i did, screwed around with my brain and the neurologist said its probably the main trigger. So i've been narrowing down all the things that trigger the main hits. But still i have this weird Nausea headache on the left side of my head. and at random times i get this weird aura ( A sharp pain, and something that mentally i realize something bads gonna happen) and i feel the urge to fall to the floor and jam my headbetween 2 cold wedges of some sort. And its always my left side. It usually last like 5-10 minutes of pure pain  in my left temple, and after it ends. back to the normal headaches/ nausea headache  Cry
And my doctor is perscribing me, neuronton or its spelt something different. But so far the only thing i found how to dull the pain or slow down is 2 melatonin and sleeping as long as i can.

And one last thing. I get a weird Nausea headache all day long, its like im nauseated only in my forhead. i also get the drilling temple ones, a burning forehead one. and like a shard pain in my forehead one. but when this migrane thing hits its like  kill me now. but i think im dying when it happens so i just get like a minor panic attack Sad
