Update on Judy
Jun 23rd, 2008 at 2:16pm

She's doing much better today.  Doc put her on Neuronton yesterday morning and it has taken a great deal of the leg and foot pain away today already.  He wanted to put her on Lyrica, but you know those insurance companies.....they think they know better than the doc so they refused Lyrica.

Anyway, her second surgery is scheduled for next Monday, the 30th.  She's had some pretty bad experiences with mistakes and nurses with attitudes (even withholding pain meds..around 3am just after her surgery, they ran out of the med they put in her pump.  They could have given her Percocet, but didn't even offer it to her, so she had to wait until the Pharmacy opened at 7 am the next morning.  The oncoming shift asked her why she wasn't using the Perc. as it was in her docs orders!!) and she is really uneasy about this next surgery...more so than last time.

The prayers and vibes did good last time so if you will please keep them coming I'm sure they will again.

Thank you all.

Hugs,
Donna

The prayers and vibes haven't stopped, Donna, and they won't. Not until your little girl is healthy again.

I'm glad she's doing better, and I certainly understand her reticence about the next surgery.

Lyrica and neurontin are very similar (now that neurontin is available as a generic, insurance companies prefer it).
I find that neurontin is great for any number of neuropathic pain issues (not so much for CH, but it did help a little). It also has a weight gain side effect, though, so have her stay on top of it.

I continue to send prayers and good wishes, nani

Oh Donna.....so glad you posted.  I've had both you girls on my mind.

I'm so glad Judy is doing so well Smiley  How are you?

It's pitiful the way some medical professions are allowed to conduct themselves.  And...insurance companies are a pain Angry (to put it mildly)

Please know that we will continue our prayers, healing vibes and positive thoughts.

Much love to you both,
Jackie

My prayers are with you and Judy. The longer I'm a round, the more frustrated I get with the medical practice. Hang in there though, there are still many good ones. It just seems the others have a way of making life painfula nd complicated!

I wish I had been in the room when nurse Ratchett denied Judy her pain meds as per Dr.s orders.

She be wishing she had chosen sewer clean-up as a profession instead of nursing.

I did get the nurses name and she will be written up as soon as Judy's next surgery is over and she's home safely.  The Doctor and his Nurse Practitoner are aware.  Thanks!

Still here for you too.

You know insurance companies. They don't want to admit that someone is sick and might need something that costs a buck. grrrrrr.

Judy remains in our thoughts. Prayers will continue to flow as needed. Good to hear all is going well with the exception regarding the pain med incident.

Wishing you all the best with the second surgery! Smiley

Thanks for asking....

Her second surgery has been cancelled for the third time since I wrote last due to a UTI that wasn't completely cleared up.  The nurse practitioner only prescribed enough Levequin for 5 days each time and the doc has now put her on a 10 day dose.

As for her sanity, it's out there somewhere running wild.  She conditions herself for the surgery only to get a phone call the day before and is told that the surgery is off again.  Then it's on again and the fight is on to put that fear away again somehow.

It's been really tough for her and she's still in a lot of pain.  That's another story........

I'm on my way now to her house to take her for a walk in her wheel chair just to get her out for awhile.

I wish we would wake up from this nightmare.  Undecided

Thanks for letting us know, Donna.

Hoping that you get some definitive answer about when the second surgery will be scheduled very soon.  Still thinking about you folks every day, and wishing you the very best.
