G8 Summit Set For 2010..

We had our Prime Minister here in my hometown 2 weeks ago yesterday and he announced the 2010 G8 Summit will be held about 40 minutes in the next town from us in Huntsville, Ontario.

They will be using our airport which is located right beside where we mountain bike, and next to a Federal Prison.

This will be so huge for our area, as they say this will have a dollar value of about $550 million when all said and done.

This will be quite something to see the changes to our area as the top 8 world leaders arrive in our town. I am very proud this is going to happen right here in our area.

This year's summit will be in Japan just a few days away, July 7-9. Check out the news to get an idea of the expansive attraction of media. Security is reaaaal heavy too, sometimes demonstrations accompany. Here's their agenda:

Should be interesting, Barry...

Last year, the current occupant of the White House came to Boise to reconnoiter with Dirk Kempthorne (just before Doik was offered the Sec'y of the Interior post). It was quite a big deal. Helicopters, motorcades... A great deal of hoopla and folderol for what's essentially a small town. Can't imagine how much distraction you folks will get with eight of them around.

The G8 Summit is probably okay. You don't want the WTO Summit, though... Just ask Seattle.
