My friend Jackie helped me through a bad Morning !
Jul 7th, 2008 at 12:06pm

Deveny and Buddy leave for work every morning at 6:15, they car pool everyday except Monday and Friday. This morning they left at 6:15 headed to work. I guess around 9 am I get a call from Deveny job. They want to speak to her. I say she is at work, and I had noticed the id number was from her job, so I asked who was speaking. It was the guy over her. I said are you telling me she did not make it to work. He said yea she is not here. I said OMG. He realizes I am upset. He said if we hear anything we will call you. I call Buddy, he said "somethings wrong. " She should be at work. He said he would call me back. I sit not knowing what to do and all kinds of thoughts are going though my head, bad thoughts. I knew she was going to get gas on the way to work. I am crying now can't hardly catch my breath. I call Jackie, Jackie I am scared what do I do? Jackie agrees that Deveny would call that something has to be wrong. Jackie trys to calm  me as much as she could and tells me to call the police. I hang up and I do. The police are on the way, so I get her picture and any information that might help them find her ready. I call my Mom and have her call all the hospitals from here to Atlanta.
Buddy went to the bank and checked to make sure they had not seen her, . Plus we both keep calling her cell number. The police get here, I am giving them all the information and they have me check the online account to make sure no withdraws have been made. Its been over three hour since she left home. The more that goes on the more my heart hurts and tears just flow. The phone rings I look at the number and I look at the police and say "Its her". She had already spoke with her dad and he told her to call me. She was on a sale call. Her bosses knew it from emails. They just did not check them and she had talked to them on the phone Thursday about it. Deveny turns her phone off when she is on a call. She didn't get her messages until after her appointment. Her mistake was she didn't tell me. The police was very nice. He did call her her boss and let him know what kind of problem had been caused because he did not check his emails.
I called Jackie back and was crying harder. The fact all was ok made me just really let go. Jackie was real glad, she was having the  same ba thoughts I had but she wouldn't tell me till then.

Thank you for being here with me Jackie. I love you!

Now thats the kind of people that are here on ch.com and thats what makes this place special, people like Jackie that you can call about anything.

Lady Laine, I am sooooooooo glad that all has turned out well.  You have enough to deal with in life without having to worry about scares like this!

I hope the rest of your day, indeed, the rest of your week is one of rest, relaxation and totally stress free.

That Jackie is a one of a kind isn't she Smiley

Oh, Elaine, I can only imagine what thoughts were going through your head.  I'm so glad everything turned out fine.

And, that Jackie!  She is one of the most awesome women I've ever had the pleasure to meet.  God bless you Jackie.

Elaine I too couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what happend. How terrifying. I could so put the boot into her boss for scaring you like that and my shoes may be size three but trust me - I can make 'em HURT!!

Jackie I didn't think you could rise higher in my estimation which just goes to show I don't think well enough. Thank you so much for looking after Elaine for us all.

I love you both and can't wait to see you

Yea the good Lord was with us again. When she walked in the door tonight she sure got some hugs and kisses. Then we made a few plans so this never happens again. I have to say everyone we were in contact with, the police, the hospitals, everyone was nice and ready to help. Jackie was great as always. Deveny is 28 years old she is adult, it wasn't like a run away. Jackie knows Deveny and knew it wasn't like her to not call. Again Thank God for friends here like her, they are many.

I went though a runaway teen years ago when my oldest daughter ran away,  it was years before we found her. I don't think I could live through something like that again.

We will be at the convention some time Friday evening between 4 and 6. I can't wait. I am almost afraid to move these days afraid something will happen. I am real excited and so is Buddy.

Love you guys see ya'll soon

Good God Elaine!!  I am so glad she's alright, but I cannot believe even Buddy didn't get some grey hair from that!!

I really didn't know what to expect at the end of that story but I'm glad it turned out that Deveny is ok.  It's a good rule to let those closest to know where you are, just for peace of mind.  Her boss....I'm sure he's feeling lower than a snail's toe right about now.  What a doofus.

Jackie is the best - you got some cojones on ya Jax, it ain't easy being cool, but somebody's got to do it.   Cool

You can still call yourself Happy Elaine....can't wait to see you!!!

Love,
Pep

Yep....it was a VERY tense couple of hours.   I've never heard anyone so terrified as Elaine was.

Now, for my next scare.....I'm driving home from work.  It's a 2 lane highway and quite dangerous.  Matter of fact I had an accident on that road and ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks with 13 broken bones.  OK I see a wrecker pulling out car out of a deep ditch...obvious it had hit a pole on the way down.  Finally get a good enough look to recognize the car. It's Aaron....the next door neighbor kid....we've watched him and his brothers grown up and they are like our own grandkids.  My heart was about to beat out of my chest when I saw him standing a ways down the road with his Daddy right there.  No injuries in either vehicle but his Mustang is a total....not his fault.

Whew....quite the day.  I was more than ready for bed last night.

Elaine....you sounded soooooo much better today...bless your heart.

You all are so sweet.... Kiss  Thank you for the kind words.

Much Love,
Jackie

Ooops...almost forgot.  Hey Chuck   Smiley
