Mel,
You have some good pictures there.  Very good perspective on several of them.  Love the pic of the cattails!

Holy images Mel...

You do have a way with angles and perspectives.  Can I hire you to take some family photos?  What is your sitting fee?

I know what you mean. When you quit, it is almost like you are schizophrenic...arguing with yourself....

"Have just one....no don't...well, maybe...no way!"

I just kept saying "I don't smoke".

I haven't smoked...for four months.....

Good luck, Melly.....

Mel,
great pictures! I bet you felt much, much better after you went out and took those pics - watching at the wonders of the nature will often do that. And you know, not everyone gets to see a deer - they and other creatures do know who are worth it. Smiley

Well, I didn't have to get in, one of the advantages of having a small, hand sized camera.  BUT, I did end up getting my jeans soaked in spots, lol. Wink

btw, thanks for all the compliments!  I am currently building a portfolio, even just to keep here at home for guests to peruse.  At least my kids can say what a cool photographer their mom was when I am gone. Smiley

Oh, and KJ, I like the idea of telling that pimping brain of mine to go shove it and I don't smoke anymore!!

I love those pics Mel! They are awesome!

If you took pics like that everytime you wanted a smoke, you'd have an awesome portfolio going and would take your mind off the cravings.

Our brains can be such tricksters!  Why is it when you smoke you want to quit, and when you're quit, you want to smoke?

Bastages!

UPDATE: I know what it is!!  I know why my urges are so strong right now!  It's because with my other 2 children, I smoked.  I smoked when Lily was a baby, I smoked when I went into cycle 2.5 weeks after Eli was born, and quit again 8 months later, and now that I've had Ava, I am getting such huge urges!!  I am so used to dealing with post partum with smoking, that I don't know how to handle it now being smoke free!

Good God I wish I knew what to do! Undecided

Mel,

I quit 12 years ago when I got pregnant with my daughter, I stayed quit for 7 years and started a job where I was out on construction job sites and smokes all day and started again.  Smokes for 3 years.  Recently, I quit for 4 months, and started again about 3 weeks ago.  My kids asked me last night if we can sit down and make a promise to do our best  to stop again. (my hubby only quit for about a month) I was able to quit because I kept telling myself that my kids want me here for a long long time.

The issue that I have is that if I'm around them or if I buy them I will smoke them.  So it has to be both of us to quit.

Mel you are a great mom.  And you can get thru this without smoking.  I used toothpicks and kept those in my mouth all the time.  Even 7 years being a non-smoker.  I had them in the car, at work, in my purse and I would grab one and have it no latter what.  That helped with the wanting something to shew on and keeping my hands busy.  I know it sounds silly, but it worked for me.

For a while I would get some cinnamon oil and soak the toothpicks.  Then dry them out. Then when I wanted flavor, I would grab one of those and the craving to eat would not be so bad.

I love the pictures. You have a great eye.
Tia

Mel.. a little bit of very dark chocolate goes a long long way. and the next time you get the over whelming urge to smoke... just pick up your camera and take some photos... you do have a gift.
