Smoking or chocolate? (tangent pics pg.2)
Jul 14th, 2008 at 3:56pm

Which vice is worse??  Pretty sad when I'm more scared to gain weight than die of some smoking related disease. Sad

F'ing hypothalamus + female hormones + 3 kids are giving me a run for my money right now and it seems smokes are on my mind every 10 minutes!!

I need stress relievers badly.

Cry

PS - I'm in diet hell. Feelin' your pain, Melly. Not smokes, but food is on my mind every 5 mins.

Emily,

Would you believe I have a 70lb weight bag hanging in our basement from when I quit smoking 7 years ago??

Though, instead of being angry now, I just want to cry. lol

BTW, it IS hell, isn't it?  Don't know which is harder to do, lose weight or keep quit from smoking.  Done each about a 100 times, I swear!! Undecided

I know the very feeling Melly. Just keep your head up. The feeling will pass. It's just a test of your resolve, is all! If you want to cry, then get it out. You'll feel much better. I put a soppy movie on, cry my eyes out and then one that's done, I feel more positive about things.

It's always so much easier to reach for the junk food/smokes than get out and do exercise. My stupid dress fitting is in 3 weeks and I was supposed to have lost 11 lbs for it. I've managed 2.  Embarrassed

Neither Mel!!! You have too much time in to have a smoke. If you must, go for the chocolate then cut the grass or something.

Sorry, just don't want you to start smoking again, as it would only take as little as one cigarette to start again. Smiley Smiley

Hi Mel,

They do not put messages like this on a box of chocolates......so go ahead and eat the chocolate and if you get mad at yourself take it out on the punching bag!!

Well this is a no brainer for me!! Chocolate has some medical properties, not alot but some antioxidants. Tobacco can't claim any medical properties. Just eat your chocolte slow and in moderation. Buy small bags and enjoy it! If you overindulge, put the baby in the stroller and take a nice hour walk.

Thanks everyone!!

Also want to thank Jeannie for the PM's.  She made me realize the reasons I quit in the first place.

Oh well, even if I gotta eat a pound of chocolate a day, I don't care!! Tongue

Andrew, I love you, man, but you don't have the common sense that God gave a goose.

This is a girl thread, and I am sooooo outta here.

Best,

Wise choice, Mel. Have you tried very, very, very dark chocolate? Timo is the chocoholic at our house and he likes that the best. It's the healtiest one apparently, too. Smiley

Dark chocolate.  Dark chocolate has antioxidants as long as there is no milk in it, the milk proteins spoil the antioxident powers.  Also if you get a craving for something, some people say you will keep eating until that craving is satisfied.  So have a little dark chocolate, the craving will be fulfilled faster than in milk chocolate AND you will get health benefits.
I don't think I need to express what I think about smoking.   Tongue
But then after you fulfill your chocolate craving, go for a walk and get some endorphines going!

Bingo. Dark chocolate is more chocolate for the calories.

Stick with the chocolate Mel.  You can always loose weight.  COPD or lung cancer are much harder to lose.   Smiley

I hate this.  Battling an addiction sucks. Sad

My husband is not here emotionally for me.  Hell, he's barely here in body the way it is, and my stupid brain keeps taunting me.  Like it's going to save my sanity or stop all the shit from happening.

I have some absolutely horrible things to say, but I won't do that here.  I only say them to myself. Cry
