Virginia BBQ Free-for-all... WITH pics!

Somehow, I survived my visit up to Jen’s (Pollypocket) house for her BBQ … I don’t know HOW!!! That is ONE CRAZY DAME!!! (No wonder I love her!)

We had a GREAT visit and socializing time! I finally got to meet (in person) Lisa (Swimchica623) and Charlotte (MamaSwimchica or cash5542), and they are just as you would expect them to be, after getting to know them from the chat room. GREAT people!

Pete (Batch) (with his new trim job on his facial hair) and his lovely wife Joyce have been cursed with Svenn since Dallas. The only saving grace is that the darling Bente was there to make it somewhat worth while. ANYHOW, after doing all the touristy thingies this past week, they were able to all show up at Jen’s hide-away (believe me, her place is hidden WAY out in the middle of nowhere!) too.

And of course, we can’t have any sort of gathering in the Carolinas or Virginia with out Bee-yul showing up for the free grub!

Wow, loved the house Jen.

You & Darryl really did a nice job with the work you have done to it. The pics you showed me a while back of the back yard were nice. The front looks just as great !!!!

Looks like everyone was having a blast at Jens place.

Now I get to put a face with the names....Charlotte & Lisa...Batch & Mrs. Batch.

We just got home!! What a wonderful day yesterday was. The food was great. I can't believe no pictures. Bente made a beautiful cinnamon bread. I don't know what was best that Jenn made, the barbecue sandwiches (so tasty and tender) all the little biscuits, the potato salad and then if you had room there were wonderful chocolate desserts and strawberry pie. Lisa woke up this morning and said she was still full.

This was the first time Lisa and I had met more than one clusterhead at a time and it was really an experience. It was really good to get to talk without internet interuptions, ect. It really is a special unique family. Jenn went above and beyond to be the perfect hostess. Her daughter Hannah is every bit as sweet as Jenn is. It was great to meet her and here the perspective of being a child with a parent suffering rather than my situation of being a parent with a child suffering. Thank you to everyone for coming! It really made the day special!

My day ened with a bang, literally! Remember Jenn I said I almost didnt make it cause of tire problems? We put the spare on the front and came. Well we got on 95 and had a blow out on the back tire!!! No spare either. 2 flat tires in one day!!!We got towed on a flat bed truck to Alexandria and got in at 12:30. Lots of details that I'm leaving out but we made it! 1 1/2 hr trip in 3 1/2 hrs!!! Oh well, at least it wasn't an accident and it sure was worth it!

Sorry this has taken so long. Im having a terrible time staying connected- can't even stay on long enough to get pics uploaded Sad

First I want to thank each and every one of you who came to our house on Saturday. I feel so blessed and honored to have you as my guests. A very special thank you to my Hannah, for working so hard to help me get everything prepared and working behind the scenes and giving me the time to enjoy your company.

Seeing Bill, Chuck, Pete and Joyce again was wonderful. Svenn and Bente are so warm and kind and meeting them was truly a thrill for me! Svenn, next time- GO INSIDE DAMMIT. Wink

Svenn is truly charming in every way! In spite of the language barrier, great big hugs transcend all obstacles and Bente’s sweet personality showed in so many ways. Her delicious cinnamon bread was a huge hit! My little nephew gave her the thumbs up and a YUM!

Charlotte and Lisa, what a joy to meet both of you. I could see Lisa’s sparkle as you pulled up in the driveway and being able to wrap my arms around you and hug you both was just what I needed!!! Thank you so much for the cookies! Darryl did take one and was instantly threatened with immediate death if he took another- MINE!!!

I honestly did forget to take pics of the food, but we had pork bbq, crabs, ham/cheese biscuits, bacon tomato cups (Bill was instantly addicted to those-I knew they would rock your world!!!), melons, vegetable platter with dip, potato salad and for dessert chocolate cake, éclair dessert and strawberry pie (we won’t even mention how many slices of pie Lisa had!) Am I forgetting anything?

I found out from Bill that Chuck was coming- what a wonderful surprise! The hugs and ass grabs were abundant but what do you expect when Chuck is in the midst of things?? And you call ME crazy???? I wasn’t the one stripping in my dining room! LOL

When the day wound down Bill, Chuck, Darryl and I sat on the front porch talking. I got to hear Darryl’s view of the day, what it was like for him to meet other CH’ers. Later, after all had left, Hannah, Darryl and I relived the day and it was interesting to hear their perspectives. They both saw, for the first time, someone other than me get hit. I think it was a profound moment for Darryl when he realized that life continues, noone freaks out, ice is gotten, o2 hooked up… it is what it is, and life continues.

Hannah asked me later, “What’s the percentage of people who have ch? One percent? That’s so weird because 50% of the people in my backyard had it!” I think she went away with a new understanding. Darryl told me its given him a lot to think about.

I can’t begin to tell y’all how special that was to me and I so look forward to seeing you all again. Anyone new, if you get the chance to meet other clusterheads, just go. Do it. You will never forget the feeling.

I am going to get the pictures from my moms camera uploaded ASAP!!! Got back not too late yesterday but I was soo tired and had to get ready for a busy day of teaching lessons, swimming, and coaching today. Should get some more pictures up tomorrow so watch out!
I had sooooooo much fun Saturday thank you Jen and entire family for welcoming us to your beautiful home!!!!

I only had umm half the strawberry pie. But only because I couldn't have the other two rich chocolate desserts!!! I had to make up for it! OMG SO GOOD!!! And it was competing with Amish pies!!
