been hot here
Jul 20th, 2008 at 2:50pm

It's been hotter than blue blazes here !!!

Went to visit my Mom & chopped down several trees and carted them off to my Brothers house for burning.

Got heat stroke I think. Was sick & felt like passing out. Either I'm gettin' old or just pushing too hard.

Has it been miserably hot where you live??

Dave

And, like, the heat has paralyzed your fingers so you can only post here once in a blue moon?

Thanks for the kind words all.
Been busy lately. Getting maint. done on my trucks as well as my boy's Blazer. Oil changes, brakes, ball joints & cleaning.

I get teased because the minute the XRunner gets a bug on the grill, I clean it up right away.

Maybe a weird fixation...but it's better than drinking too much or habitual handwashing or having to watch Judge Wapner a 4  Cheesy.

I keep all 3 trucks clean inside & out.  Trying to get my boy interested in auto maint. When he is out on his own, he will need to at least know a few things about repairing his vehicles.

Sucks, tried to do some things in the garage today, but it's just too damn hot & humid.

Cheers, Dave

Dave dear, I have a 2000 Tacoma that needs detailing inside and out . . . . Wink

It's not all that hot here (mid 80's) but the humidity is KILLER!

Was 87 by 11:00 here. 92 when I went to the store, humid, I don't know what the heat index was.

Take it easy working hard in this weather, it's easy to overdo it. You probably did have a touch of heat exhaustion.

Hey, I'm selling my truck. Just got it detailed. Know anyone looking for a 2000 F-150 4x4 with 51K miles? I can give you all the details on the phone. Don't need it anymore, looking for a car. Any good dealers in Decatur? I'm not hearing any good things about the dealers here...

Take it easy, Dave. Supposed to be in the low 80's all week, after tomorrow.

Guys, feel free to send some of that hot weather our way; this summer has been far too rainy for my liking. We had warmer days than this back in May! Roll Eyes

Aguess the result is: if you want to have less sunny and warm summer, move to Finland. Wink

Or to Germany. Only 12°C (54°F) here today and raining.
Really hope this gets better when I'm on vacation.

Not too bad here.  A high of 76 degrees, but it's at 69% humidity which always sucks.

Um... not a clue - was only there for 16 hours.

It was so hot in Iowa, the squirrels were handling their nuts with potholders.

It was so hot yesterday in Chicago, I saw a chicken lay a fried egg.

And Sunday when I get to Wichita, I'll get condensation on my butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.

Temps in the nineties, flirting with a hundred.  Very dry.  Cools off nicely at night, though--fifties and sixties.  Cooler overall in the mountains.

Pretty normal for this time of year.  We haven't had much in the way of range fires yet this year, which has made the air quality better than it could be.  Long way to go before the fire season is over, but for now, it ain't bad.

Best,

George

I must be getting used to it Dave. I put in 20 - 25 miles most every day on my Trike. I rode the 47 mile Elkhart route last month.  And I signed up for the 52 mile ride at Deer Creek IL on Aug. 2nd. Must have just acclimatized. It was snowing on me when I started this year. Heres a link to the current setup. yesterday morning, it was 75 degrees at 6:30 am. Kinda gives one a clue as to how the rest of teh day's gonna go, huh?

We have a storm moving in now and the temp has dropped considerably. Almost feels cool outside.

Hi Dave!!!

Kids and I camr to the decision that we would "try" to go without putting up the air conditioner this year.  Do the green thing and open things up at night to cool things down, then draw the shades so the sun doesn't heat up too unbearable levels during the day.  A couple fans keeping the air moving has been great except during the humid days, but it hasn't been too bad.

If it gets really uncomfortable, we'll install it...but for now we seem to be managing just fine.

Besides my electic bill is looking much healthier.

I actually like to do the car clean-up thing Pat.

I just interviewed for a 2nd job at Auto Zone. The manager was a customer of mine when I had my motorcycle shop. He recognized me and remembered me doing a good job for him. I'm pretty sure I have the job.

It will be perfect for me. I have too much time on my hands after work. I think a second job like I used to have when I had my motorcycle shop will be a good thing for me.

It wont pay much, but the activity is mostly what I am looking for.

When I retired my shop I thought the extra time would be great.

Actually it sucks. I don't have anything constructive to do and I am sure the 2nd job will be a great outlet for me.

Wish me luck.
Cheers, Dave
