Awesome photos Patti!  Thanks for sharing your trip and your obvious passion for the island.

Lovely!!

Two ferry rides?  Where does the first one stop?

I'm assuming this is bare bones camping - like no Hilton or Marriott?

Thanks for the responses.  I enjoy sharing a little of what I saw there.
Pat, the first ferry is a car ferry from the peninsula to Washington Island. The second is a small passenger shuttle to Rock Island.  Yes, camping is pretty bare bones, although some of the sites are fairly close to the pier, and people even bring their fishing gear.

It can also be done as a long day trip without camping, which many do.  But the shuttle stops around 4:30 p.m., and if you're not there overnight, you would miss out on the awesome sunsets and the indescribable night sky.

If you're ever interested in camping there, I can give you some tips. There aren't many campsites on the island, and many of them get reserved almost a year in advance.
