Brew made me post these.  It's our Sunday comfort food meal.   Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans from the garden, and a fruit salad.

He wants me to mention that the knife was never used because the meatloaf was so tender . . . .

Now I've done my wifely duty by posting these.

Once in a while, I will pile mashed potatoes on top of the meat loaf about 1/2 hour before it's done, shmear gobs of butter on top and around the sides of the potatoes and let them brown to a golden color....yummy.  Just slice and serve.

One of my favorite comfort foods is a tomato sandwich with mayo and a little onion........or pasta, with onions and plenty of garlic sauteed (sp) in olive oil.  I splash a little vinegar over the top.

Sanna - You know I'll be sending you some for Christmas now, don't you?  Wink

Oh that would be incredible! Smiley
I can imagine it now: my relatives wondering why I'm getting all excited about mashed potatoes... Grin

What is it about moms and daughter's weight?! Roll Eyes Mine used to bug me about my weight for years, although she has carried extra with her my whole life... And now when I'm thin, that isn't fine either... Oh the middle ground... Grin

But it's not even real potato!!!

My mother would always find something to pick at, even if I looked like Elle MacPherson, had a brain like Einstein's and the selflessness of Mother Teresa.

Thank god I only have to see her once a month!!!

Emily,
it looks like that our moms have lots of things in common! But luckily mom has calmed down since she retired, which means no more daily email/call/chat, just two, three per week... On the worst moments I say a little prayer to thank that for the time being there are 280 kms between us... Wink

And yeah, funny, but I like smashed potatoes and french fries, but when someone puts regular potatoes in front of me, I feel that something is missing...  Finnish school food (well in my childhood that was) 9 times out of 10: potatoes with gravy; I think I ate my lifetime supply of normal, boiled potatoes then... Grin
