Oh Tony... you know my love is going out to you and Ben at this time. Oscar will be gone but not forgotten. He's at the Rainbow Bridge with my little Rudy and they're healthy and happy now...

Hugs BD

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh Tony, I'm so very sorry.

That's four of our babies in 2 months - us, you, Beth  and Jen . . . .

All I can say from recent experience is it does get easier, but it still hurts like hell.

Hugs for you my friend, peace be upon you.

(adited to add Midwest Beth - I am so sorry I forgot about hers)

My dear friends,

I can not possibly find the appropriate words to express how your kindness and support has helped me.

We all have,  or will someday experience some form of loss in our lives. The pain is both exquisite and undefinable and each of us has our own unique way of mourning.  Although it's difficult to embrace and accept such tragedies we know somewhere deep inside that there is a purpose for everything. I do believe that God, the universe, the supreme power or what ever you wish to call it, gives us exactly what we need. I am blessed to have been led to you.

Each of you have become such an essential part of my life and I find great comfort in this difficult time knowing that you are here.

Thank you for your love, prayers vibes and comfort. You will always have a special place in my heart.

with warm regards,
Tony & Ben

It amazes me how an animal can become such a part of our lives that although we know it is not human it can become so much closer.  They never judge us for our actions, or for what kind of a life we lead, how much money we have, or where we fit into society.  All they can do is share in our love and return it a hundredfold.  When comfort is needed they are just there.  there is no pretense or hypocrisy, just love.

Tony, I am so sorry for your loss, my friend.  Oscar became a part of you, and the loss is thus as painful as any can be.

You could not have put that any better. In the short time I have been a part of this group I have seen so many of us lose our pets, including my own golden retreiver. So many of us also have new additions to our homes as well. The pain of losing and the joy of having a new pet are two of the strongest emotions we can go through. It really is a special, unique bond that I have appreciated more every year. It's just too bad our pets don't have longer lives!

Tony, I am so sorry.  All of our pets are absolutely family.  Thankfully we have not yet had to face the loss of any of them.  I cannot imagine your pain.  The suddenness of the loss makes it that much more difficult.

He was a beautiful, beautiful dog, and obviously a wonderful friend.

I'm sure he's waiting for the day you will be reunited over the rainbow bridge, and doing what he can now to send you comfort and love.
