A Benefit For One Of The Family - VERY SAD UPDATE
Aug 6th, 2008 at 8:04am

Blue Meanie's sister, Raye, has asked me to post the following:

As many of you know, Blue Meanie's son, David, has been a victim of a very rare form of cancer since May 14th and has been hospitalized and breathing on a respirator through a trachiotomy tube. He has a 6-year-old daughter, Cassandra, that he supports. David's mom was forced to take a leave of absence from work as he requires constant care. It has been a financial hardship for the family paying for medicines and daily drives from Gurnee Illinois to Bernard Mitchell Univeristy of Chicago Medical center and from Hobart Indiana to Chicago Hospital for daily radiation treatments which could continue for months until the cancer is removed.

David's "Rock For Cancer" Benefit will be held on Saturday October 4, 2008, featuring The Empty Suits classic rock band from 2-9 p.m. at "The Cottage" bar, Old Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake, Illinois. 10 minutes from Great America amusement park and Gurnee Mills shopping mall. There are plenty of hotels in the area if anyone was wishing to come and stay overnight. We can reserve a block of rooms with enough interest, as there are people driving from Indiana and Wisconsin and staying overnight. Food will be provided along with entertainment, auctions, raffles, 50/50 and tip boards.

Raye Jackson (benefit coordinator) is asking for donations for the auctions and tip boards. If there is anyone who would be willing to help out, items can be sent to:

Raye Jackson
1116 Lillian Street
Hobart, IN 46342

Any monetary contributions can be sent through paypal to: ROBL3000@comcast.net. Please include your CH.com screen name.

Or, checks and money orders can be sent directly to Bob:

Robert Loeffler
36320 Douglas Terrace
Gurnee, IL  60031

Thank You and God Bless,
Raye Jackson (benefit coordinator)

I think you can use Raye's address above. Maybe Bob can let us know on this thread how checks should be made out.

The deepness of you hearts, Bill and the Suits, will be thricefold rewarded.

Linda, you might make the check directly to Raye with the benefit donation noted on the note line????

Duh.......don't mind me.  I'm having an extraordinarily blonde day. Smiley

I'll be  sending 50.00....who wants to see my 50 and raise it a bit?

We take care of our own here.  Right?  Several checks for 15 or 20 dollars each,  add up folks.

$15 or $20 dollars is  small change in the scheme of things.

Knowing you did something wonderful...priceless.!!!!!!

Thank you Bill.

My check will be in the mail tomorrow.  There is nothing so disasterous as seeing your child deal with this kind of stuff.  I send it with all of my good wishes and prayers Bob.

Linda is right. Dont think that 10 or 20 wont matter, I took up a drive one year to get a cluster head to a convention and with the 10's and 20's we got him there and back. It adds up!

No one expects anyone to send the kind of cash I do, but I do because I can. If I couldnt I wouldnt.

Bob needs our help and this is much more important than a convention!

Linda, I will match that $50!

THAT'S WHAT i'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!    TY Jonny.

Thank you in advance for any and all of you who can send any donation you can to Bob's son.  When my own son was in a horrific head-on collision due to a drunk driver and almost died...I didn't need any donations.  But the support I recieved here was enormous and so appreciated.

Sometimes a check for 15.00 dollars says more in the way of support than we would ever ever imagine.  Dig deep folks....you know you don't need that Machio carmel latte tomorrow at Starbucks.    Wink

The support we have received is totally overwhelming. THANK YOU to the entire BREWCREW & the "Empty Suits" for offering your time, talent and effort. My sister Raye has taken on this benefit head on and is doing a superb job. Words can't express my gratitude to you all. Clusterheads are are truly amazing.

David got his temporary trach tube in today and is resting now and looking alot better. He will get the permanent one installed on Monday. Docs say he should be able to talk in around 10 days or so. He may leave this hospital here in Chicago soon and go to a long term care facility until he can get better and breath on his own. There are a few facilities in the area that we will be checking out.

Anyone thinking about the possiblity of coming to the benefit you can message me for any questions or info. If you have not heard "The Empty Suits", I can testify that they ROCK and all Clusterheads are invited and welcomed with open arms.

With Love,
Bob, Cindy & David

Count me in.  I cannot attend, but I will send what I can.  Blue - I'm really glad to hear that he is moving along with the trach and will be able to talk soon.  Hopefully at a rehab/LTC facility he will become comfortable with the care of the trach.  I'm praying for you all constantly that this thing gets cured.

Much love,
Carrie/Lizzie2

Thank you everyone who has helped us out with your well wishes and donations. We are very grateful for the contributions. David is going to try to go from the bed to a chair today so we're hoping it goes well. He gets his last radiation treatment on Monday as he is maxed out on the amount you're allowed. He will be starting back on the chemo sometime soon. Just thought I'd share a picture of him with my grand-daughter Cassandra.

Good for you Tuck.  Every little bit helps.

There's no reason to feel badly that you bragged about your son.  Pride doesn't have borders.
