Here we go again.....
Aug 17th, 2008 at 9:22am

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Fay is projected to zoom up the Gulf Coast shore line sometime soon.  We don't know how fast, or even if, she will increase in speed, or not.

We don't even know how long it will take her to get here as she can change speeds at will.....I mean, it can't be predicted at this time.

We are under an "emergence state".

We've been told to stock up on the usual: batteries, water, candles, non-perishable foods, prescription drugs, gasoline, cash, etc.

How I love Florida's Gulf Coast (from November thru June).  I live 1 and 1/2 miles from the coastline.  Hurricane Charlie had the exact same projected path a few years ago when he took a right, right into Charlotte Harbour and so much destruction was done.

How about we all start blowing as hard as we can at about noon tomorrow?  Maybe we can swing her way south and out into the Pacific?

I feel for you!  It gets rather tense around here when there's a new tropical storm in the gulf (Jimbo's never been the same after working down south post-Katrina).  I'm sure there's enough collective hot air own here to blow that byatch back out in the Pacific.

Well, if anybody can generate a lot of blowing hot air, it's this bunch (me included) WHOOOOOOOSH from me!

Batten down the hatches and stay safe.

I'm glad my kids don't live in Islamorada any more!

Keep your head down, Donna.  I'm hoping you all get lucky and it blows out.

Wouldn't you know......I just put Mom on a plane back to Florida last evening.... Sad

My dad and his work crew are on their way down there as we speak, to be prepared for when it hits (he works on the power lines).

Sadly, he makes his most money at people's misfortune - the more power outages, the more money he makes.

He says he loves going to Florida though, the people there are always really nice to the workers.  He's always coming home with free stuff and let them stay in the really nice hotels (as opposed to Texas where they slept on cots in big cabins).

I'll be praying for those of you in Florida to be kept safe.

The eye of the storm is south of me by about 80 miles and is not a hurricane but a tropical storm with sustained winds of only about 45 mph (like a blustery, normal winter day in Cleveland), with gusts of about 60 mph.

There's been a lot of rain for those closer to the eye of the storm and the usual small tornados, power outages and such, but we here in Englewood and Port Charlotte have been very luck so far . We haven't had the lightning, thunder and 6 inches+ of rain yet and might not at all.

Another miss!!  Thank God.
