I would highly reccommend this to anyone suffering from cluster headaaches. First, a little about myself. I started getting clusters when I was about 14. My mother first passed them off as migraines, since she gets them every so often, however, the frequency and severity made me wonder. Finally, I saw a nuerologist; I had an MRI and an EEG to determine that there were no tumors, and both came up negative. Finally, he diagnosed me with cluster headaches, put me on some drugs (which never worked) and the headaches continued in their usual off and on pattern. Last year (I'm now 22) I met with my current chiropracter by chance while I was working. We started talking about my headaches and he suggested that I come in the next day. I took his advice and had an adjustment, and from that day on (Around Oct. 3rd, 2007) I was clusterless until this June. Since I had been in that previous cluster for a few months, it had started dwindling down like they always do, so I wasn't sure if the adjustment had helped or if time had just run its course. This June, I endured three headaches until I finally went back, and since that day I've been headache free. It seems that the adjustment has some correllation with eliminating the headaches, which makes perfect sense, since the headaches have much to do with the trigeminal nerve. I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY, suggest trying this out. If it doesn't work, you're out maybe $20 bucks, which is what you'd spend at the doctor to be perscribed medications that don't work. And, also, I would like people to try this to see if it actually works for others. Best of luck, and hang in there!
A little more about myself:
My symptoms include excruciating pain that is unilateral, always on the right side of my head. The pain extends from my lower neck, up to my cheek, right below my eye, and slighly above as well. The pain lasts for about 45 minutes (if it's a "good" headache), and will come two to three times a day, and all of the headaches come at the same time of the day consistently, unless of course I stimulate a headache with alcohol. These periods of pain last 2-3 months on average, with periods of remission that usually last about 6 months. They start early in the cycle as a dull, aching, annoying pain, but quickly elevate to the excruciating "I want to die" pain. During my headaches, my right eye lacrimates, I break into a cold sweat, can't sit or lay down, and sometimes it even causes me to vomit. I have been on prednisone, which I will admit worked 50% of the time, however, the side effects are nasty. I'd wake up often in the mornings with my pillow soaked in blood from nosebleeds caused by the predinose. I've also been on Topamax, which showed no help at all. I'm not saying that Chiropractic care will work for everyone, but it works for me. Let's suppose I don't have clusterheadaches ( trust me, it's not something to be proud of), then what does it sound like to you?
