You sound like you are capable of doing much better on your own.  I don't know what it would take to set yourself up with your own business, but would definitely recommend looking into it.  SBA has programs available that might make it more possible, and the fact that you are a woman gives you added advantage with them.  I would look into it.

Next time you have the opportunity, probably around Christmas, get yourself some mistletoe, hang it appropriately, and walk into the old shop.  They will get your point without having to say a word.
