I was "let go" from my job today..................
Aug 27th, 2008 at 1:19pm

LONG story, but i have been employed here for 3 yrs, in a Mgmt position.....................a new GM came in a few mths ago,who is to eventaully to buy into the business,  and i had been stripped of all responsibilities, my office, etc...little by little .......harrassed, bullied, but not to the extent i could file a claim with EEOC...........he wanted me to quit, which i didnt, for i am not a quitter..............i was the "face of Vineyard 48" and he clearly did not have me in his master plan, though in the beginning he SAID i was i was lied to, used, etc.............he HATED the fact that customers came to the Vineyard because of me,i am an extremely friendly person, and i could sell the wine to a damn statue!!!! he wants it to be his show..........................i believe he gave ownership an ultimatum, me or deb, and since he has money, it had to be him..............oh he also hired a 25 yr old @ 1/2 my salary to replace me.............................now i REALLY know what's it like to be 51 and replaced by someone half your age!! I will collect my unemployment, have my feelers out, but i just needed to vent, and knew i could do it here...............oh and oh the way to work AKA being let go, i had a CH!!!!! thanks for listening................on the NYS Unemployment website!

I'm so sorry Deb.  I've been there too.  Not easy.  One thing I have learned is that when one door closes, usually another opens with bigger and better things.  Keep the faith hun.

Love,

Hang in there hun.

After my last not a very nice person of a boss let me go because I refused to lie to the City Counsel just so they would get their plans approved...  oh their words where that I "was not looking our for the companies best interests."  I told them that I thought the companies interests where best served by not having them pick thru our plans with a fine tooth comb for the next 10 years and taking twice as long to get them approved after they found out that you where BSing them.   Roll Eyes

Ah well.  I bought a Cantalope and a Honeydew melon (yes one of the owners had a big head - literally they both had them figuratively) drew faces on them and smashed the living shit out of them.  It was a great way to just get it out....

What Brew said.

Too bad they didn't have one of those buy you out for $100,000 or so deals.....as bad as that is, you could have hired some pretty iffy types that would be happy to give them a short course in how to not treat people

Rats.

Sorry Deb  Sad     I got shit-canned by a b1tch-boss a couple years ago and had to do the unemployment thing too. It SUCKED, but I answered any ad I could, one in particular I had no interest in at all, but did the application just to fulfill my unemployment commission obligations.

Who'd a thunk I'd find my great job I have now just by answering that ad I had no interest in??????    Hang in there sweetie, even when things look their bleakest, something wonderful can and will  come out of it.

Oh yeah.........do that melon thing    LOL   (very cool btw)

Hugs,
Jen

Been there, done that....

And you do it one day at a time.  Sometimes up, sometimes down, but each day the scale gets a little more even.

Stay strong when yoiu can, lean when you have to. You'll get there Deb.   Smiley

Must be a scary situation. All of my past "letting go" situation also did end up with me moving up, so beat those mellons and whatver else it takes to get all the anger and destructive feelings out and switch on the brights and be ready to find something new......

Okay all you New Yorkers and other nor' easters - Next time I'm here (hopefully Christmas) we're having us a roadtrip and we're going wine tasting and leaving a little WHINE tasting - I'll show 'em what happens when they have the effrontery to can my mate! Humph!

Deb, the Finger Lakes wines are pretty gorgeous - I don't suppose you'd head this way would ya?! Pretty please?! Patty and I know a winery that could use a good tasting room manager and alternatively, we found a couple with really nice wines too!

We love you, we have faith in you - we'll follow you wherever you lead us!

lots of love and lots of belief in you

Helen xxx

Oh and Pssssst... I see my lovely lovely friend Wendy the Brit is back - hey Wendy yo have got to come over here and go on the wine trail with me! It was made for us!
