It was a good move. After the huge press from Obama's speech....that will be rerun for the next 400 years....McCain took the wind out of his sails for a time. You have to give her credit for nixing Ted Steven's bridge to nowhere too. It doesn't hurt that she's big on the NRA....but then I can't imagine many from the NRA voting Democratic. The NRA has become as much a conservative political organization as well as guarders of the 2nd Ammendment.

She could be his daughter.

Not to worry. I won't know until October if I'll be able to by beer and porn on the state. In western NY, the average wait for a hearing is 669 days.   Shocked Cool

To answer the original question, yes I think it changes the dynamic of th election significantly.

Obama used to be my State Senator before going on to become my US Senator.  I had no use for his communist leanings then, (I used the "c" word advisedly), and I have no use for them now.

I had planned to vote very reluctantly for McCain, but with Sarah Palin on the ticket I can vote enthusiastically, knowing that if something should happen to him we will have someone much more fiscally conservative to back him up.  I also believe she will have a great deal of influence on our oil policy, and she is no friend of the oil companies.

If all the people who are talking "it is always the lesser of two evils" would actually find someone to vote for they like (yes it would take going to an independant to do it) somethings might change.

Until the US gov race isn't a rigged, 2 horse race, nothing is gonna change. As much as Dem and Reps fight, the truth is they both know either side cannot exist without the other, to the point where it colors what happens to the point of the affect being that they are in league with each other.

If EVREYONE who complained it is the lesser of two evils each year would vote indy, something would happen. But most do not, they pick the lesser of two evils and then most complain that somehow they are stuck with "evil".

Of course the answer is some weighted voting, where every voter is required to pick a certain % of candidates. Then people would hve some choices and there would need to be an interest in some 3rd parties.

Then maybe we would get a president that more people actually wanted as president than who didn't want them as president, for the first time in 30 some years!

But since the 2 main parties the rule our lives would be at risk, they would never make the changes - too bad for us.

Revoloution anyone?

It's true that Palin's selection has changed the dynamics of the election but not quite to the extent you right wing apologists would like. It takes a good part of the experience question off table. Biden now looks better. Still, with few exceptions, people vote for President rather than Veep.

With McCain being 72, he would be the oldest ever elected.  So, doesn't this election take exception, and make his Veep a good/bad(?) canidate for President?

It makes it good, because she is not a rich fuck that is looking to live on the dole. All we get is rich folks running this joint, its time for one of US to be included!

Like I said before, Sarah has run a city AND a state....Obama has ONLY run his mouth!

Palin was chosen for her abortion postion. It's fine to have a positon but sad reason to choose a candidate. Democrats are guilty of it too. Palin is all right. McCain isn't stupid. She has a more open position on several other social issues. Hopefully the wackos on the far right will treat her with a little respect.

This antique approach has made serious national politics secondary. It works though. Republicans seem to be able to convince the evangelicals and the like that they are on their side. They do a good job electing some GOP types and are quickly forgotten until the next election.

Yes, she thinks that abortion should be denied for the victims of rape and incest, and McCain thinks that women that were for Hillary will vote for her.

Wishful thinking on the social issues kids. Palin insures the pro-life thing for McCain as a lot of GOP women worry that he's not a true believer on some of these things. Choosing a woman that is for teaching creationism in schools brought it home for them.

There is no way that Hillary voters will vote for a man that voted against equal pay for equal work for women. "No way, no how, not McCain." PUMA died on the convention floor.

Not my words...but it's probably true that if McCain chose a man with her credentials, he would be laughed off the ticket. It was a bit of a cynical move and possibly dangerous. McCain actually weakened his change position with her choice. Now that he's a true believing Republican trying to insure his right wing, he lost his maverick credentials. Everybody likes her but she has to be careful that she doesn't fall into the Eagleton and Quayle trap. I wish this kind of thing were not true but it is.
