Here's hoping your week was better than mine!
Sep 1st, 2008 at 9:09pm

Last week the wife’s grocery getter blew a head gasket $1-1.5 K or worse. I won’t know until the mechanic I towed it to tears it apart next week?

Then the dam cloths washer went nubs up today $600.

The ice maker water tube froze up making ice for national night out so no ice for my drinks until I thaw it out. No ice really sucks!

Then the worst thing, my 19 year old step daughter moved back in because she was evicted from her apartment.

The only good thing to happen was that Walgreen’s messed up on my imitrex refill and gave me 5 boxes instead of 1 box of 5 vials. That was cool and enough for 6 months.

Just a rant! I hope it’s been better for you all.

Roland,  I am so sorry.  Wish we could all give you a group hug.  Won't fix the car or the washer, but it might make you feel strong enough in the knowledge that we're all behind you.

Sometimes you're the windshield.  Sometimes you're the bug.

Ok, let's look at this from the "bright side" (and there's always a bright side -- somewhere in the dregs)....

The car.... wife can't go to the grocery store ... does step daughter have a car? Yes? Let HER do the grocery list! NO? You get to do it! Either way -- wife gets a break.... (see it's a bright side for HER.)

Ice maker -- now that's a total pain in the rear, but not impossible to fix. Get some ice trays (Dollar store has them). A little inconvient, but it will work until you can get it thawed out.

Step daughter -- Lay down some HOUSE RULES -- and charge RENT. The rent will help pay for the car and clothes washer.

About the clothes washer... that's a tuff one.... welllll, you could turn the underwear wrong side out and wear it another week Wink (or is that only in the country that we can do that?) I haven't been to a laundry mat in years, but I think they still have them (pain in the rear, but ... maybe a "chore" for step daughter - she may not like living with you long at this rate).  Smiley

Roland, you know I'm only trying to cheer you up don't you? Sometimes things get so rotten ya just gotta laugh about them ...  Kiss

Hugs BD

Thanks Barb and Linda.

The 19 year old has no license (or car), we paid for behind the wheel for her and she couldn’t pass the dam written test twice. So we wasted the money on that deal and they won’t refund it ether. She does however have a credit with them at an adjusted price.

I bought all new GE appliances 5 years ago and the stove has blown the $85 oven igniter already. The dam washer started F’n up right after the warranty of course, it kept stopping all the time but if you hit the start it would usually finish. I didn’t want to replace the $125 control board. So let the sucker go until the clutch was a grinding and the belt was a burning! I knew that beast was on the last mile.

The dam APV minivan is the one I still sweating because there’s no way of knowing what the damage will be until disassembly and inspection of the heads. We’ve got some miles on the old horse, 141K to be exact. Blue book 1-1.5K but I would have a hard time replacing it for 5-6K.

I’ll just be nervous quietly about the auto repair until the hammer falls!

It really sucks when all that gets thrown on you at one time!  I have been there too!

But look at it this way:  There IS a HUGE silver lining to all this!  Just think how shitty things would be if you didn't have the right mate!  After all, feel SUPER glad you didn't get stuck with that ornery old broad, BarbaraD as a partner!   <shudder at the thought>   Grin

Here's hoping things start heading uphill, instead of down!

Yes Chuck, a silver lining there must be! It’s just slightly eluding me at this juncture in time. Luckily the wife didn’t have any trouble driving my full size 4X4 with a 5 speed. She is down at the launder mat right now, and I’m watching the little ones.
