Exciting Night Out....
Sep 4th, 2008 at 5:42pm

Tonight is the meeting of the Happy Red Hatters of Linden.....

I've got my purple shirt all pressed and my red hat laid out and am ready to PARTY down...... Smiley

We're meeting at the Music City Pizza Parlor for a night out of delicious food and if we're lucky the Moon and Staz will drop by to seranade us (hey they're big time up this way -- they've played with BIG TIME artists like Linda Ronstat and others -we ain't as country as we sound). Then we're gonna catch up on ALL the gossip around town and tell a few old jokes and get our pictures took (most of the town shows up just to see what we're gonna look like in our prutty red hats).

And we'll probably stay out till DARK. I'll probably be all tuckered out tomorrow after all this excitement. Lucky we only meet once a month.. Cheesy

What I really love about this "society" is that we BELIEVE that chocolate is one of the major food groups.

Hugs BD

Let us know if you need bail $$

My night out was great. We were the hit of the town. It was my sister-in-law's Birthday Month so she was regalled out in a RED shirt and a Purple hat (customary for your birthday month). Now everyone in town knows she's turning 75 on the 11th (she appreciated us spreading that around!)

The Red Hatters are really a lot of fun. No rules - no dues and always chocolate... And the hats are really great. Everything from uptown to my baseball cap (well, I wore jeans this month - didn't want to overdress with the uptown hat).

Anyhow I had a great time. Now have to get back to the old grind.

It is.

1. Coffee
2. Chocolate
3. Pizza
4. Cigarettes

And it must be a great society because it wouldn't have me as a member (too, oh I don't know - male)! Grin

Barb, hook a harness on that floor dragging butt of yours, and get to work!  The garden needs weeding ... The laundry needs to be done ... Meals have to be prepared ... Is that DUST I see over there on the table?

Tsk tsk tsk ...

I know that someone of your advanced years of senility is not use to being out past 7PM, but you did this to yourself!  Now get to WORK, slacker!

SHEESH!!!

You know the funny thing about this bunch is that we just meet to have fun... Some are widows, some divorcees, some married and a couple are single, but we all find something to laugh about for a few hours. Everyone is fun.

My 75 year old sister-in-law is not what I'd call a "fun" person (she's always been the "serious" one in the family) but even she breaks down and I've seen her laugh more at these meetings than I've seen her laugh in the almost 50 years I've been in this family. She's cracking jokes and everything. Should have gotten her in this a LONG time ago.

But there are still so many who are "afraid" to put on a red hat and get out in public and act like a fool for a few hours. Beats me as to why - They love to come over and talk to "us" but just don't have the nerve to go invest in a red hat. "What will people think?" That we're having a good time maybe????

Oh well, I have a month to rest up till the next meeting. Think I'll decorate my "new" hat for that one -- It's October -- maybe some Halloween decorations would look nice.....  Or I could put a red scarf around my "black" hat (the tall one ya know) and paint my nails black... anything for a laugh... Grin Grin Grin

I found the newpaper article describing the nights festivities:

Quote:
LINDEN, T.X. - An evening of dinner theater fun turned ugly when at least 10 members of a visiting Red Hat Society turned the night into a drunken free-for-all, police say.

Ten Red Hats, ranging in age from 59 to 71, were arrested and held in jail overnight, Sgt. Bruce Aycock, of the Linden Police Department, said.

"It was just a mess," theater manager Anderson Wilcox said. "They were all just drunker than skunks. We had to postpone the show."

Wilcox said the Red Hats made catcalls prior to the opening of a stage production of "The Goodbye Girl," and one of them actually rushed the stage. "They all stunk of alcohol," he said. "I noticed during dinner they were really boozing it up. But I figured they were all mature women and could handle their hooch."

Little did Wilcox realize that would not be the case. "We had some minor technical difficulties that had to be worked before the rise of the curtain," he explained.

That's when the trouble started. One Red Hat threw a hip flask full of bourbon on the stage and the madness ensued just as the curtain went up. "Then they all rushed the stage, cussing and screaming the show was no good and we hadn't even started."

It was a sight to see, said usher Kimberly Askew. "All these old ladies drunk and fighting with the actors. I smelled trouble when I escorted a group of them to their seats. They were cussing like sailors, telling me I didn't know what the hell I was doing."

The drunken brawl caused approximately $5,000 in damages to the theater. There were broken seats, damaged sets and even some floor lights were shattered, Wilcox said.

Three actors and a stagehand were injured but were treated and released.

Wilcox said he is doubtful he will allow the Red Hats to return to the theater.

The 10 Red Hats were charged with misdemeanors.

Eleanor Cosby, one of the Red Hats charged, said she didn't realize they had done all that damage. "We were having a good time and mildly irritated the show didn't start on time," said the 70-year-old who punched a stagehand in the jaw, "But I didn't realize we did all that. I guess I won't drink that much anymore."

Millicent Morgan, her red hat torn and tattered, was also stunned at the news. "We did have a little too much to drink but it was all in fun. I just rushed the stage because I love that one actor. He is such a dreamboat."

This is not the first incident involving drunken Red Hats. In 2004, 50 Red Hats were involved in a brawl at a biker bar in Topeka, Kan.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious and was stolen from Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register and modified to pull a few gullable people further into the story.
