Whatcha cookin this weekend?
Sep 12th, 2008 at 9:27am

Our home, spaghetti and meatballs for Chistophers Birthday get together with both Gramma's. A salad and world famous Sciortino's bakery Italian bread! (The greatest, right Brew?)  Wink

I think the kid made an awesome choice! Smiley

Nothin  Cool

Andrea and I both had Birthday's this week.  The kids want to get together to celebrate but I don't want her working like a dog cooking for her b-day.  So we're taking the kids out to a nice Italian place on Saturday night.  Just the 16 of us  Wink

Then we'll have a nice fire in the back yard after.

I'm going to attempt grilling a duck.  May not work out worth a darn but there is always Chinese carryout for a backup.

Hey Mark, you going to wrap it in bacon, right?

Can't stand duck, too gamey.  Now pheasant I really love!  Tastes better than chicken. Smiley

Don't know yet, but I suspect it will be impressionistic...(yeah, that looks good).

Way too much going on around here to plan anything elaborate this weekend.  Mostly good stuff, but hectic nevertheless.

From the futurology prognostications that were popular when I was a kid, I thought we were all supposed to be working 20 hours a week, getting paid for 60, and spending the rest of our time in indulgent leisure by now.  It's the 21st century, after all.  Where's the danged robot butlers?

Best,

George

I'll be studying all weekend, so going for comfort food.

Slow-cooker spare ribs with mash and veg for tomorrow. Sunday we'll go out for a roast dinner in the pub. Mmmm!!!

I'm hungry now!

If it's a domesticated duck, you should be fine - lots of fat there. Otherwise, if it's a wild duck, do as Mel suggests: cut it into it's component parts, wrap each piece in bacon, and grill to medium rare. Overdone wild duck sucks. The breasts should look like a medium rare tenderloin inside. And wood ducks taste lots better than mallards.

I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. Cheesy

Edited to add: Yes, Sciortino's is, far and away, the best bread baker in town. Italian rolls, sesame seeded Italian bread - I could eat a whole loaf of that stuff.

Thanks for the tip!  Never had heard of the bacon wrap.  This place is the best!!

For the main course tonight it will be my Verapamil, then I will have some o2 later for dessert, if needed.  Sad

But seriously, we are having Tacos from a box, but bought our meat from a butcher and we will add a few extra things to it as well! Wink

Oh, forgot to answer the question, we're having shrimp, scallops and basmati rice. Smiley

ETA: ok, didn't have the rice, instead made shrimp & scallop alfredo with crescent rolls.

Nothing tonight, just a few leftovers, tomorrow is a toss up..depends on the weather.

Sunday night is Dyl's requested Dinner out at the ToKyo Steak House for Habachi.  Us three and his GF Dominique and her Mom and little brother.

Last month Dommi turned 18 and Dyl liked the dinner out her Mom treated us all to, and wanted to know if I'd return the favor.  Well dinner for 6 can get pricy, so I said he'd have to settle for only one other gift.  (I'm not made of money here...lol)

I figure I'm gonna lay down 2 bills easy on this.

Can someone say
(help)
??? Shocked
