Are you kidding me.  Your pumkins will rot by the time halloween rolls around.  Why do people put his stuff up so early?  I may as well star dying my easter eggs

LOL>>Kev, the retailers HAVE to do that..
Let's back up a skosh ...Summer vacation begins, it's time to market the Back to School stuff. That is done when the kids actually GO back! Once the shelves are divested of the back to school stuff, what's to do? Get ready for Halloweeen! Now, when you think of it, the marketing period for Hallowen is fairly short, when you consider that many stores start sneaking in the Christmas stuff simultaneously with the Halloween stuff. Of course, we gotta have some money to be made on Thanksgiving, so it's more than just the grocery stores who pull in extra merchandise,,,and all this is going on. building on the Holy Grail of marketing we call Christmas! When the last package is opened and the family all goes home, the retailers take a break.right?? OH< NO! Valentine's Day is coming! Break out the hearts and flowers! That;s only half of the Retailers' Year....Mom's Day, Dad's Day, Independence DayGrandparents' Day,,EENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember when the big department stores would use the LONG weekend after Thanksgiving to transform their store into a wonderland??? I miss tht! No wonder I hate shopping these days......
Gonna go hang up my lights now.......

My local supermarket has put out chocolate with Christmas packaging already! It's so depressing. Retailers wish the year away.

Perhaps it's because Hallowe'en isn't a big thing here and Thanksgiving doesn't exist. They get the stuff out extra early.

Ya know, my birthday was National S'mores Day.  I was highly disappointed and heartbroken they didn't have free samples at all the stores that day. Sad

Here too. Amongst the candy corn and the pumpkin decorations, Christmas is "Just around the corner."

"Hangs head in shame"

My work entails selling and booking the retailers Holiday, and every other day of the year, adverts.  Finding creative ways to milk more and ore dolllars out of them.  I'm the person you guys love to hate.

Thank goodness I haven't seen any Halloween/Christmas decorations back in here yet... but it's a matter of time, I suppose.

I accept it'll earn me
AussieBrian
status but, here in Oz, we actually eat pumpkin.

Cook it the same as you'd cook a potato - it needs just a little less time.  Boiled, baked, roasted, steamed or fried on the BBQ in a piquant sauce.

(My children were held to ransom until I gave up the recipe for a fair dinkum pumpkin soup.)

Importantly, see Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register just so you don't think I'm telling furphies.

I really admire the artistry that goes into pumpkin-carving during Thanks-giving.  It's the wastage of good food that bothers me.

And this is all before we discuss my famous chilli-punkin and beer!

I ordered Eli & Ava's costumes a few days ago.  Had to make sure they'd get her in time!

Or they weren't sold out. if you waited until Oct. they would have already been picked over.

All I need is my copy of "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!"  It's hard to believe that it was done more than 40 years ago.
