Hey Gator
Sep 12th, 2008 at 1:53pm

How is our lovely Jane doing?
I couldn't check in as puter was playing silly buggers but I have been thinking of you and waiting patiently for news - which you have to admit is very unlike me!

Give Jane my love, I know you'll be fussing over her as much as she'll let you (which is not very much I know!) Tell her I said she HAS to take it easy or else! I won't be a happy Helen, I'm warning you!

love to you both
Helen xxx

Hi Helen!  Jane is doing pretty good.  She's crashed on the couch right now via the miracle of pharmacology.

The whole thing was kind of sudden.  One appointment they are telling her that she will possibly need surgery in a few years and a couple weeks later they say they will operate next Thursday.

The surgery went well.   They used a laparoscopic technique rather than making one large incision.  She went under about 7:00 that morning and we were home by 7:30 that night.  They had to remove her uterus due to a large fibroid mass and one of her ovaries which had a large cyst, but were able to leave one ovary that appeared to be in good shape, so that she shouldn't need HRT.  There was no sign of cancer in any of the pre-surgery biopsies, but we still haven't heard the post-surgical pathology report.  Cancer runs in her family.  Her mom has had breast cancer and her father has prostate cancer, so we're waiting impatiently for that report.

All in all, things are going pretty good.  She is being as cooperative a patient as I could expect, but she's getting cabin fever.  I can't blame her.  I'd be bouncing off the ceiling by now.

OMG!!!

This is the first I have heard about this!

She has to deal with all that stuff AND put up with YOU?  The dear woman is part SAINT, I do believe!

Give that darling woman a tender hug, and wish her my best.

Now that she is laid up, have you vacuumed the rugs yet?  Cleaned the windows?  Dusted?  Done laundry?  Cleaned out under the sink?  Emptied and washed down inside the refrigerator? Cleaned UNDER the refrigerator?  BEHIND the refrigerator?  Washed down your grubby finger prints from the walls?  Caught all the dust bunnies under the beds?

NO??

What have you been doing, then?

SHEESH!!!

Mike - Didn't know Jane was going in for surgery. Glad to hear things went well. Now we're going to have to insist that you wait on her hand and foot and make sure that she's treated like royalty.

Give her our love and a nice, gentle hug. We'll be praying for her speedy recovery.

This is the first I heard too.

What Brew said:  hand and foot!

Give Jane hugs and tell her vibes are going her way.

Hope all post-op path shows clean - which I think they will.  If the surgeons had any doubt, they would have removed everything immediately during the operation.

I lost one ovary at age 20ish (ovarian cyst), and everything else removed at age 43.  No cancer, just fibroid and cysts.  Know what?  I don't miss any of it at all Smiley
