Sorry to hear uve had to find us but glad your here and hope the great people of cluster heads can help.

All i can say is have you tried Oxygen??? no meds just Oxygen at a high flow rate aborts my attacks as long as i use it at the 1st sign of one starting! Before Oxygen i suffered taken maxalt tablets beta blockers and whatever else which made no difference, I started Oxygen in Feb and have not looked back, i have imigran/imitrex injectables which i have not used yet as Oxygen hasnt failed me yet!!
Compared to some Veterans on here i am fairly new, only suffered for the past 3 years some sufferers on here have been at it for over 20years +.

Two variables are common:
1. Not uncommon for symptoms to be unstable and changing in a new case of CH. It may take months to years before a stable picture develops.

2. Not all symptoms which you may have read will be true for all of us. At this early stage, being patient and working with a doc who knows complex headache disorders is important.

MANAGEMENT OF HEADACHE AND HEADACHE MEDICATIONS, 2nd ed. Lawrence D. Robbins, M.D.; pub. by Springer. $50 at Amazon.Com.  It covers all types of headache and is primarily focused on medications. While the two chapters on CH total 42-pages, the actual relevant material is longer because of multiple references to material in chapters on migraine, reflecting the overlap in drugs used to treat. I'd suggest reading the chapters on migraine for three reasons: he makes references to CH & medications which are not in the index; there are "clinical pearls" about how to approach the treatment of headache; and, you gain better perspective on the nature of headache, in general, and the complexities of treatment (which need to be considered when we create expectations about what is possible). Finally, women will appreciate & benefit from his running information on hormones/menstrual cycles as they affect headache. Chapter on headache following head trauma, also. Obviously, I'm impressed with Robbins' work (even if the book needs the touch of a good editor!) (Somewhat longer review/content statement at 3/22/00, "Good book....")

HEADACHE HELP, Revised edition, 2000; Lawrence Robbins, M.D., Houghton Mifflin, $15. Written for a nonprofessional audience, it contains almost all the material in the preceding volume but it's much easier reading. Highly recommended.

Oxygen Oxygen Oxygen read up every thing you can find on this board, there's a wealth of info here.
Are you in oz as in Australia, if so I can send you all the info you will need to get oxygen through your Doc/Nuro or if they wont point you in the right direction we have the means.
